Influences: Seanna Turner has the look and sound that legends are made of with a passionate and sultry tone that reaches far beyond her years. She is totally comfortable in any musical setting, be it Jazz, Gospel, Classical, or R& B. When Seanna sings, she commands your attention with skills reminiscent of many legends of the past. Being the granddaughter and daughter of a pastor, Seanna acquired a strong musical foundation in the church. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Seanna began singing at a mere two years old at her Grandfather’s church and acting at the age of seven with the Alliance Children’s Theatre. She continued to impress her elders when, at only 8 years old and in front of 3000 people, she performed a one women show titled Rags to Riches. At the age of sixteen she was the youngest vocalist to ever audition and become a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus under the direction of the late Robert Shaw. Seanna graduated from the acclaimed North Atlanta School of the Arts, formally known as Northside School of the Arts. North Atlanta School of the Arts was where Seanna saw her dreams come into fruition. The performing arts school provided Seanna the opportunity to travel with a musical theater touring company and a big band that took her overseas to Europe, across the United States and nearly every stop in between. Shortly after her experience with the ASO Chorus, she won 1st place in the classical division of the National N.A.A.C.P. ACTSO competition and 2nd place in the NAATS (National Arts Association for Teachers and Students) classical regional competition.Seanna continued her education and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management and Marketing. Although she sacrificed and diligently pursued her education, she held tight to her gift and passion as a performing artist. While studying musical theater, performing with her own band, and working with some of Atlanta’s finest producer’s, Seanna was approached to make up one half of a duo, eventually dubbed SeannaDerrick. After only a three song demo, the two experienced an overwhelming response, earning the attention of several music industry professionals. For the better, and a difference in career paths, the duo eventually parted ways as an act; however, they continued to collaborate as a writing team on additional projects.Since then, Seanna has continued to evolve and explore new opportunities. She has recorded, written, and performed with artists: Tony Rich, Roy Ayers, Christina Milian, Usher, Mike Phillips, Keith Sweat, Tarralyn Ramsey (Diva’s Live Duet), Ronald Lawrence (Bad Boy), Malik Yoba, Jerome Jackson (lead singer of The Drifters), LaShell Griffin (Oprah’s Pop Star challenge) and others. Seanna studied dance at Chrisean Ballet Academy as well as The Atlanta Ballet and has enjoyed a career on stage in Cats, Dreamgirls, My Fair Lady (the soundtrack voice of Eliza) and Fame. International tours include Bizet’s Carmen, Carmina Burana, and the Brahms Requiem. Film credits include: Tyler Perry’s “Why Did I Get Married†(extra). Beyond her budding acting and singing career, Seanna continues to play her respective role in church, managing and directing the young adult choir and music department. She is a hard working volunteer in her community helping the homeless and counseling troubled teens.
