About Me

“It’s been said we are the best-looking and most entertaining band in rock ’n’ roll, I’ll take that.” — Goldy LocksGoldy Locks may have a sugary sweet moniker that conjures up images of pigtails, teddy bears and cozy chairs, but this self-dubbed, hard-core, chick singer/guitar slinger and her three henchmen are up for anything, except maybe skipping merrily through the forest.Miss Locks heads the band that shares her name, and together with Matt (bass), Ben (guitar) and B.J. (drums), the child actress, teen-pop-queen-turned- professional-wrestling personality and hard-ass rock ’n’ roller is ready to take the country by storm. To ride the wind, all fans have to do is buy a concert ticket, turn on the radio, click on the television, pick up the band’s CD “Sometimes” or its DVD GoldyLocks Live from Detroit and hold on tight. And remember, this won’t be a trip for the faint of heart or the weak stomached.Up to this point Goldy lockS has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the music industry. Puddle of Mudd, Three Doors Down and Nickelback have all shared stages with these throw-down, up-and-comers. When the band isn’t on stage, Goldy Locks (the singer) is kicking butt in wrestling rings on national television. While the two fields may seem an unlikely combination, the NWA/TNA, pay-per-view, body-slamming star says the rock world and the wrestling ring aren’t that far apart.“I had no idea how much entertainment pulls from wrestling,” she states. “It is by no means fake. I don’t ever want to hear another soul say that because I’ll bash their face in. These guys are trained athletes who do this out of love. There is a tremendous amount of ‘show’ in the show. It’s called working the crowd. I think more artists need to get back to that. No, scratch that. Leave that for our band. That is the absolute first thing said to us after the show, ‘You guys are so entertaining.’”The band has been playing together for 5 years. Goldy met drummer Bj while while commuting from Los Angels to Nashville shooting NWA/TNA wrestling show now on SPIKE TV. Goldy was throwing punches and BJ was playing with various bands but still looking for a project he could really put his creative energy into. But as the story goes it was music at first sight, and not because Goldy got hit with a cheap shot.“I Met BJ at A local Applebees. He had answered an add & that’s where we met. I remember he had the biggest hair I’d ever seen & the first thing he said to me was, “the tracks he heard blew him away.” He was instantaneously crazy and really funny and really had a grasp on what entertainment should be. I knew I had to play with this guy. He’s been in the band ever since.”From there Goldy found bass player Matt Anderson through a series of auditions. When Anderson joined the band we knew we had to step it up & find a really amazing guitar player that could handle the amount of material and keep up with our writing. We put out ad after ad, never quite finding quite the right fit. Then one day a Myspace email came in from a guy from Michigan, Ben Dmitruk.Bj, Matt and Ben all something in common. They have an intense passion for music, writing, recording and playing live. All of them shared a common love for intense stage performing that was a perfect match for their now wrestling turned Paintball & extreme sports Hostess and still front chick, Goldy.Bj, the oft times clown in the group, has anything but a comical background in music. The drummer graduated cum laude from the prestigious jazz program at the University of North Florida. After graduating he soon moved to Nashville to pursue a professional career as a drummer. After all, nothing meshes quite like the wrestling world, jazz music and rock ’n’ roll.“We’ve all dedicated our lives to our craft,” explains Anckner. “We want to make the best music possible no matter how long it takes to get heard. And what makes us special? We all rode the short bus in school.”Then there’s Matt. While in college, the business major played with an array of bands ranging from jazz to bluegrass. Upon graduation Matt moved to Nashville to return to the south and pursue a career as a musician. After 3 months of odd jobs and a brief stint with a Hank Williams Sr. Tribute Band, Matt spotted an ad for a rock band that needed a bass player, which led him to Goldy."Initially I was hesitant to answer the ad," says Matt. "In a music city like Nashville, there are so many ads that get put up that can't live up to their own hype. I realized this one was no joke when I met Goldy. She was covered in chocolate milk and wearing no pants as she walked into the room after leaving a photo shoot. Within five minutes she was having me audition with her while BJ was setting up. She had a no nonsense attitude and a great voice. I knew immediately I wanted to be a part of the project."Finally last to join Goldy lockS is Ben Dmitruk.Ben Dmitruk was born in Michigan, and has recently moved to Nashville in hopes of networking with others who share a passion for southern music. Ben began his musical career at the age of 5 playing piano. He continued piano until the age of 12, when he switched to guitar. Guitar has been his passion ever since. Weaned on the music of Clapton, Hendrix, Zeppelin, and other classic rock artists, he widened his interests and became versed in many genres, including blues, metal, jazz, soul, and rock. After some frustrations with some less than appreciative people he played with, Ben found himself surfing Craigslist and found an add for a “Wanted- guitar player who could rip your face off” He answered & after several attempts at a response, ripped out solos at his audition non like anything GL had experienced.Well there’s that, and their singer.Goldy Locks was a child star of chicken commercials, a teen pop queen who shared management with New Kids on the Block and played for tens of thousands of fans on mall tours and in schools. She says she soon discovered the role model aspect of being a teen superstar is not for her, and she quickly chose to take her career in another direction.“I should never have been doing pop,” she explains. “I’m no role model like that. I say things like they are and my sailor’s mouth could use improving, but I don’t smoke, drink or do drugs so I need some vice. The colorful word was (my vice) and I got in trouble explaining things to kids. I would really get into the after-show talks and generally say something inappropriate. I started moving more into the rock direction musically.”That was also around the time Goldy got involved in wrestling, but she never lost sight of her music. Her ability to sew her own costumes adds stylistic flare to her trek, she pens intensely personal and compelling lyrics and she can sing them in five languages. This skill has won her thousands of loyal fans worldwide.“The whole reason I learned foreign languages was to communicate with audiences worldwide,” says Goldy. “Writing songs should be the same way. The Bushmen of Kalahari should understand your song even if it is just by the way you sing it. It’s all about communication.”And people do understand. Fans’ nightly reactions to the band’s songs speak volumes.“I’ve heard ‘that song was about my late husband,’ recalls the Joplin-esque singer. “Or ‘that’s exactly how I feel.’ Or even, ‘You must have written that song about me.’“I’ve always wanted to be good at what I do,” continues Goldy. “I want to have a reputation of writing great songs and not just as some big-boobed dip shit out there who is famous. Think of so many of our icons today. What in the hell do they do anyway? That kind of recognition would upset me. I’m always out to beat the last killer song. I want to do better for myself.”The rest of the band is hungry as well. The foursome is convinced their combined effort will turn this not-so-fairy tale story into a happily ever after, eventually."From stadiums to back yard barbecues this band can put on a great show that is fun and exciting." adds Matt (bassist). “Do you know who books the moon? I liked to play a show there.”
