~~~~~I found out I was pregnant with my first child when I was a senior in high school. Abortion was never an option for me because I had beliefs instilled in me about it when I was very young. I was scared. I was afraid to tell my parents and for everyone else to find out. I didn't tell my mom until I was six months. Yeah I hid it really well. There was a lot of crying and even some yelling but eventually it just became something that was there. The weirdness and being uncomfortable wore off.
~~~~~~I still remember the baby kicks and knowing this little person was developing inside of me. Eventually the day came when I was to meet him. The labor wasn't easy. (but nothing worth having usually comes easily)I will never forget holding him in my arms for the first time. I knew this little guy was a part of me. I was a mom!..
When my son was 2 and a half I met the man who is now my husband. I was very picky because I knew that we needed the best. He became the dad my son never had. We still tend to forget that they aren't related. If my son does something like my husband I will say "He gets that from your side of the family." Then we look at each other and laugh!!!
~~~~~ My son is 13 now. I cannot imagine a life without him. I greatly anticipate what his future holds. He is in accelerated classes and occasionally teaches me a thing or two.(but don't tell him that)The struggles just made me a stronger person and I believe a better, more understanding mother. It says in the Bible that God formed us in our mother's womb. He doesn't make mistakes. He has a plan for each and everyone of us. If we rely on Him He will meet ALL of our needs.
21 WEEKS!!!! "My name is Michael Clancy and I am the photojournalist that photographed Samuel Armas reaching from his mother's womb and reacting to the touch of his surgeon at twenty-one weeks in utero during a spina bifida corrective procedure in 1999."
"Out of the corner of my eye I saw the uterus shake, but no one's hands were near it. It was shaking from within. Suddenly, an entire arm thrust out of the opening, then pulled back until just a little hand was showing. The doctor reached over and lifted the hand, which reacted and squeezed the doctor's finger. As if testing for strength, the doctor shook the tiny fist. Samuel held firm. I took the picture! Wow! It happened so fast that the nurse standing next to me asked, "What happened?" "The child reached out," I said. "Oh. They do that all the time," she responded."
