I'd like to meet:
March of the PenguinsYou know, I saw this movie the other night and although I don't beleive in any sort of god or higher power, this movie really made me question that.I mean, the life of the penguin is actually quite complicated and so it made me think, how could a penguin know exactly what it is supposed to do? I could not even grasp any sort of scientific explaination for how penguins came to be and how they figured out how to do what they do to survive. I don't want to ruin this fine documentary, I highly recommend it so I won't go into any detail.On the other hand, my non-belief was somewhat reaffirmed when I realized that a penguins life is so utterly insignificant. Why would a creator go to the trouble of putting them on this earth? I mean, they walk around on land where it's nothing but ice, snow and freeze-your-nuts-off cold, eat a couple of fish and breed (wash, rinse, repeat).Oh yeah, I was high when I watched the movie so maybe I am just over analyzing things. I did learn a lot about penguins though.I don't like to get cash money.Let me explain. I'm not religious at all, but I do go along with this Christmas thing like everyone else, mainly because I actually like shopping for my family. For me, it's fun to think of something to buy them that they will really enjoy, and I like to do it without any hints or ideas from people who are 'in the know' (for example, asking my mom what my step dad wants or needs). I like to figure it out for myself. For the most part, I think I do a good job. Sometimes I just run out of time looking for the perfect gift and I have to settle for something else, but that's alright.The thing is, it really pisses me off when someone gives me a give card or cash money! This is because I know how little thought goes into getting a gift of that nature. It's like you gave up, or you couldn't even be bothered to think about what I might like. Now a gift card from a very specific store might be okay, but if it's some crappy Wal-Mart card...well, don't get me started about Wal-Mart, I highly recommend you watch the documentary 'Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price' and you'll never shop there again. Anyways, you get the point.People say "It's not the gift that counts, it's the thought", or something like that. I don't agree with that, it's both the thought AND the gift that counts. Giving someone cash says: "Look, I couldn't be bothered thinking of something you might like so go do your own Christmas shopping." Well to that I say: "Thanks alot, asshole."
