Biography
Plum Suckers are a duo formed by Ultraviolet and Romantic Pianella. They grew up eating “panelle†(tipycal sicilian food) and figs and they meet years later attending the roman queer-underground scene. They both keep the marks of a restless adolescence spent between new wave, punk, metal and porno-comics. With this burden they approach to electronic music creating a sound that contains all their infuences.Ultraviolet has previous experiences as singer in new wave/punk bands. In the 90’s she fell in love with techno-music attending illegal raves and she began to play as dj. She also experimented different art languages. She performed in theatres as an actress and shot underground movies as director. Actually she is also resident dj of Ritual, a roman fetish party of great attraction.Romantic Pianella was born as a hard rock/crossover guitarist, but his curiosity drove him to experiment electronic music. On 2000 he moved to Rome and he joined the net label RadioDD (www.radiodd.com). He became a well known producer, first with his solo project “Romantic Pianella†and then with techno duo “Beat o’ maticâ€. He decided to melt all his influences giving birth to Plum Suckers project. He also played guitar in the noise pop band Vodka Schwantz and he’s the resident dj of electronic/indie soirèe Karpet at Fanfulla 101 club.

I Plum Suckers sono un duo formato da Ultraviolet e Romantic Pianella. Cresciuti entrambi a panelle e fichidindia, si incontrano anni dopo nell’ambiente queer underground romano. Entrambi portano i segni di un’adolescenza irrequieta tra new wave, punk, metal e fumetti porno. Con questo fardello approcciano alla musica elettronica creando un sound che contiene tutte le loro influenze.Ultraviolet ha precedenti esperienze come cantante in band prevalentemente new wave/punk. Si innamora della techno frequentando gli illegal rave degli anni ’90, dove inizia anche a smanettare come dj. Siccome non si fa mancare nulla, approccia anche ad esperienze teatrali come performer e al cinema underground in qualità di videomaker. Attualmente oltre a essere la vocalist dei Plum Suckers è anche dj-resident del Ritual, un fetish party romano di grande richiamo.Romantic Pianella nasce come chitarrista hard rock e crossover ma essendo un grande curioso di musica in generale, il passo alla musica elettronica è breve. Trasferitosi a Roma entra a far parte della net label RadioDD (www.radiodd.com). Diventa un producer accreditato, prima col suo progetto solista Romantic Pianella e poi col duo techno Beat o’ matic. Decide di fondere tutte le sue influenze e dare vita al progetto Plum Suckers. Inoltre suona la chitarra nella band noise pop Vodka Schwantz ed è il resident dj della soirèe elettronica/indie Karpet al Fanfulla 101.
