About Me

The Acadiana Center for the Arts is located in downtown Lafayette at the corner of W. Vermilion and Jefferson Streets. The AcA is managed by the Acadiana Arts Council and our mission is to create, facilitate, nurture, and fund arts and cultural activities to enrich quality of life and place.

Artists at the Center
May 15
A gathering for Acadiana artists will take place Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 6:00 pm. The event will be held at the Acadiana Center for the Arts in downtown Lafayette. The Acadiana Arts Council is bringing together local artists of all disciplines to discuss the needs of and opportunities available to artists and other cultural industry workers. The event will serve as a forum for discussing current opportunities and challenges for working artists in the Acadiana region. Interested parties should RSVP by Tuesday, May 13 by calling the Acadiana Arts Council at (337) 233-7060.
2008 EXHIBITION SCHEDULE:
Southern Open 2008
May 10 - July 26
Southern Open is a competitive visual arts exhibition showcasing the talents of artists residing in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. A nationally recognized juror, Peter Frank has edited and selected the final artworks (105 pieces out of 777 artworks submitted) to be included in the exhibition. Southern Open 2008 artists are comprised of emerging, mid-career and master artists from across the gulf south using a wide range of artwork media including, but not limited to, painting, sculpture, photography and film.

Broken Rainbow by Lou Blackwell (May 10 - 31)

Lou Blackwell was awarded a solo exhibit in the Side Gallery Series for being the 1st place winner of Southern Open 2007.

“About the Bead” will feature works by Ange Riehl including Lampworked Glass Bead Jewelry, Loomworked Beaded Panels, Bead Embroidered Panels, Beaded Paintings, and Pencil drawings.
