REVIEW FROM DESIGNER MAGAZINE MANCHESTER.......New Antic's front man Marc Watmough hadn't stepped on stage since his last band split in 1999. Caught up in the excesses of rock'n'roll it took him out of action for nearly 8 years before he hooked up with future New Antics comrade Adam Moscovitz, whose youthful outlook and fresh vision invigorated him.
After original headliners King Kayak pulled out at 9.30am that morning New Antics stepped into the breach to do their debut gig as a 3 piece while waiting for the right drummer to arrive. Already with interest from the States and MTV before they've played their first gig its seems everything is fitting into place and the gig certainly does not disappoint. Unlike the Twang whose pseudo Madchester posturing is embarrassing, with New Antics its sincere. These are the streets they grew up on and they have the Happy Mondays on speed dial.
Expect big things ......
SINCE THE LAST REVIEW, THE NEW ANTICS HAVE BEEN BUSY. They've been on an East coast tour of the USA, played many great gigs and are now signed to Australian label RED DISC RECORDS. It was the bands choice to go with Red Disc after several record labels came forward, with label boss Clive Hignes thrashing out the deal with singer Marc Watmough. They both had the same outlook and vision on where the band should go and agreed that a monster debut album would definitely be the way forward. So the plan now is to record the debut album and put it out in mid 2009.
Joining Marc and Adam after the departure of two of the previous line up are paul corbett on drums, and session keyboard player programmer slava, these two lads bring the great final touches to the new antics sound. The band at present are just keeping their heads down putting finishing touches to the tunes for the studio and preparing a monster live set ready to be unleashed in the summer. Art work for the album is nearly done and RED DISC RECORDS are right behind them, so its just a matter of time. Keep the faith.....THE NEW ANTICS ARE ON THE WAY!!!
