Tellysleeper was formed in 2006 in Dublin, Ireland by Anthony Walsh. He met the musicians on these recordings while they were attending music college. Initially Anthony had completed songs with exact ideas in his head of how they should sound. Though while rehearsing with the band and hearing the diversity of each musician, felt it was unfair to dictate a sound. It also made an interesting experiment hearing the songs taking their own forms. Essentially, the "Subtitled" demo became a melting pot of musical styles, with contributions from all members. Some highlights of this can be heard in the collaboration between Steven and Simon on "Guilty" and also on Simon's keyboard riff on the 3rd verse of "Subtitled". On "I Love My Pariah", Neil's bass holds the whole soundscape of the song together and builds the tension right to the final note. Although John is known for pounding out a tight metronome rhythm, you can really feel the subtlety and diversity of his playing on "Reflections of Bobby". A major highlight for Anthony was sharing vocals with Nikki on "Dark." In the end these songs sounded very different to what had originally been intended but after all, isn't that what creating art means. The process was very natural. The band, with the help of engineer Tommy O' Sullivan tried to capture Tellysleepr's live stage sound at that point in time. Anthony has since moved to Canada and is currently working on new songs. More to come!
