Maurizio Marras

“La musica mi ha aiutato e mi aiuta a vivere meglio ed a superare i momenti più difficili” : Una carriera che sembrava avviata verso un preannunciato successo. Invece, nel 90, Marras trova quello che lui stesso definisce compagna fedele: Sclerosi Multipla.
Le condizioni di salute costringono l’artista a rallentare progressivamente i suoi impegni e dal 95 Marras interrompe sostanzialmente la sua attività, limitandosi a saltuarie collaborazioni con altri artisti, sia in studio che in esibizioni live.
Nel 2001 l’incontro con il musicista / arrangiatore Enrico Pinna riavvicina Marras all’ambiente musicale, gli ridona energia e voglia di cantare: nasce così After the Innocence, un CD album di cover di brani più o meno famosi (When the rain doesn't come, Loreen, In the heat of the night, Little girl, (life may be) A big insanity, The skin i'm in, Son of a time machine, Hiroshima & Johnny wanna live di Sandra Cretu - Give me a sign di Ofra Haza - Hijo de la luna & Figlio della luna dei Mecano - Victims & Heaven's children dei Culture Club - The promise you made (detto con Monica Rossi) di Cock Robin - Run & If I could fly di Boy George).

Ho voluto raccogliere ed interpretare le canzoni che hanno accompagnato tutti i momenti, belli e brutti, dalla mia adolescenza fino ad ora. […] quindi mi propongo in questo lavoro discografico solo come interprete, e non come autore, perché penso che in queste canzoni sia racchiuso tutto ciò che provo….

After the Innocence è il risultato di una maturazione, personale ed artistica, raggiunta nel corso degli ultimi 7 anni, e realizzata grazie all’aiuto ed alla collaborazione di persone veramente “speciali”. L’artista Maurizio Marras, classe 69.
La sua passione per la musica nasce a 13 anni, quando inizia a frequentare il Centro Musicale Genovese sotto la guida di Nancy Mac Donald. Già a 14 anni partecipa nel milanese ai suoi primi concorsi canori ed è ospite di emittenti radiofoniche e televisive regionali in varie parti d’Italia. Il debutto a livello nazionale nel 1992, con l’Lp ESTENSIONI, che lo vede autore dei testi e interprete delle canzoni.
Seguono altri lavori, ottimi piazzamenti in concorsi nazionali, inviti in importanti trasmissioni televisive.

Canzoni future si classifica al secondo posto nel festival nazionale “Winner Parade '93”. La canzone ottiene un ottimo riscontro del pubblico radiofonico (Radio Deejay e dal circuito SPER – CNR, spazio “Rock Cafè”).

ENGLISH: The decision to renew my interest in music came towards the second half of 2001. I thought about it long and hard remembering previous experiences on my first two albums (in 1992 "Estensioni" and in 1994 "Questo Tempo") wondering whether it was the right thing to do.
On these albums i sang and composed all the songs with the collaboration of well known personalities on the music scene. however since 1995 i had stayed away from this scene, probably due to the fact that my first two albums were flops.
This i attribute to the extremely bad behaviour of those who collaborated on the afore-mentioned albums and my faithfull companion of the past eighteen years "multiple schlerosis" which in the meantime had deteriorated, undermining my self confidence-leading me to think that i wouldn't be able to make another album.
Now the desire has returned, encouraged by my meeting the musicians with whom i recorded this album. Offering a collection of cover versions that have accompanied the good and the bad times in my life since the time of my adolescence...
I therefore offer in this latest album a selection of songs in which i feature as a singer and not as a songwriter - songs which i feel capture everything i want to say without the need to add anything - above all, my strongest and most profound emotions are encapsulated here.
I hope this comes across, notwithstanding the many difficulties and the presence of my "faithfull and constant" companion which has not abandoned me for even one second these eighteen years....
