Shannon D. Harris a.k.a. Kassinova and/or K-Nov to was born February 26th, 1986 to Paulette Harris & Carl Blackmore in Las Vegas, NV but has been raised in both New Orleans, LA and Las Vegas, NV. Kassinova started his music career at a very young age by entering talent shows for school & social events. He always wanted to be a singer but his uncle made showed him his most inner talent and that’s being a rapper/songwriter. At the young age of 8 years old he wrote his very first rap with his uncle and the talent progressed as he became more infatuated with becoming one of music’s most respected and legendary artists one day.
Kassinova grew up on hip-hop, R&B, pop, and even alternative music looking up to musicians such as 2Pac, NWA, LL Cool J, Creed, Eminem, Nirvana, Young MC, The Dayton Family, Korn, U.N.L.V., Linkin Park, UGK, the Hot Boyz and many many more! Growing up moving back & forth from New Orleans to Las Vegas has taught Kassinova about different genre’s of music from different coasts. So you can say his music has a Southern & Westcoast feeling to it. Kassinova father was never around and he has never seen his father’s face… all he know is his father’s name. Growing up without a father figure took its toll on the artist as he was introduced to gangs, drugs, run ins with the law, and troubles with school. He is also a proud & blessed Hurricane Katrina survivor, Kassinova spent 5 days inside of the New Orleans Superdome along with his mother, both of his little sisters and one of his little brothers.
At the age of 15 he was on "grind mode" to maintain and get by in life because the rapper fathered a son which was born 3 days before his 16th birthday! Shortly after his failed relationship between his estranged baby mother and dropping out of high school his senior year in 2004 to persue music & work two jobs, Kassinova began using music as his diary or journal to express his feelings to the world at the age of 16 by recording his first underground LP cd titled “Introducing…†which blew up the underground market in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Nevada in 2004-2005. He targeted personal issues throughout the LP especially with songs like; “Crazy & Derangedâ€, “Get Crazyâ€, “Loosing Controlâ€, and “Freaky Thangzâ€. His most remembered song is “Thingz Fall Apart†where he took shots at his absentee father, estranged mother, and other serious personal topics.
Now Kassinova is 23 years old and has over 100 recorded solo songs and has his mind, body, and soul is focused on becoming the next big superstar in the music industry. His style & swagger is loved by many and hated by few and it’s only going to get better! Kassinova is possibly everything music is missing and he’s going to fulfill that missing gap and plans to make history. He released his first demo/mixtape titled "King of Da Streetz Vol. 1" in January 2008 and just currently released his second demo/mixtape titled “The American Hu$tler†in January 2009 (both can be downloaded for free at: http://www.myspace.com/kingknov). Kassinova is currently in the studio working on his debut album in production with Hytt Tytez and being released thru indie label Buddah Blessed Records so checkout this artist and acknowledge and recognize the progression and passion this artist has for HIS music. Kassinova currently has 2 radio ready singles out titled “Bob Ya Head (Like Diz)†& "Poze 4 Me" that’s blowing up on myspace and local radio, internet radio, & college radio stations.
