"Melbourne hip hop crew Polo Club have quickly earned a reputation as one of the most exciting, and inventive groups on the scene. The collaborative project of lyricist Urban Monk and producer Camelot the Cameleon, Polo Club's debut album presents an engaging array of experimental club-rap, digital boom bap and glitched-up ghetto-pop."

Melbourne Street Press Review 1st July 09 by Esteban Crooke"Polo Club's strength is - quite literally - that they have no weakness, per se. They've delivered us a genre-blurring sound of 'now', beamed from a hundred years in the future. Now, get going - you needed this album yesterday..."

Peers Quotes
"With their brilliant blend of glitched-up ghetto-pop, experimental club-rap, and digital boom-bap styles, Polo Club have risen as one of the most exciting and original crews to come out of the Australian scene."
Simon Winkler, Music Co-ordinator 3RRR FM
"Polo Club are the first Australian group to take hip-hop in this direction and nail it. Mad production and rhymes with no gimmicks. Get used to the name, because they're only just getting started"
Sheriff Rosco, 'Top Billin', 3RRR FM

Camelot the Cameleon and Urban Monk (Polo Club, collectively) are an open minded 'digi-pop-hop' collaboration. I have indulged my guilty pleasure and coined that little gem. 'Digi' for the vocoder, general electro blip, bass weight, and Presets cover. 'Pop' for the shameless smile inducing hooks, and R'n'B funk soul grind capacity. And 'Hop' for the deft rhyming that laces said hooks.
These guys popped up on Unearthed a while back and were promptly plucked from it to play 2008's massive Parklife festival, which led to very recent appearances at Good Vibrations and Push Over, and heavy supports (including The Herd, and TZU...). So with an EP to tide me over, i was content. Or kind of itchy...because I got wind of this new album...
The 13 is a real display of 'future music'. it has all the hallmarks of two guys that know their respective strengths, and share them round. Urban Monk's lyrical artillery is big, Camelot's pulling aural shapes, and their combined ability to cook up a smooth sing song banger is spot on. Good album. Here's that Presets cover, 'A New Sky'! Let us know what you think. Album The 13th is out May 2!
