Chris Mason Implosion

About Me

It was inevitable, really. From a family of musicians (father, brother, uncountable sisters)another musician. Treading the path most trodden, taking the easy decision into a life of creative despair and financial ruin. No, really.

After being stuck in the bedroom for quite some time Chris finally emerges with an album brimming with pop goodness.

The Music

Think of a marriage between Slowdive, Beck, Neil Finn and Beth Orton. Melancholic but with an overriding sense of optimism and humour. Open ended stories tainted with a melancholy that you just can't shake.

The Man

Some years fumbling with the guitar and various other instruments until some semblance of competence emerged. Some further years toiling away with various analogue, then later digital, recording equipment. This continues. Various projects have born and died over the years, various recordings have been completed then trashed.

The Band

When treading the boards on the live stage, Chris calls on the collective talents of a mighty cast of fine followers. With Stuart Medley on keys (Resin, Benji, The Fur Versions), Jamie Hamilton on drums (CSR, PB, M-16’s), Simon Kirk on guitar and the recent addition of Miriam Braun (Tragic Delicate) on the Cello, the Chris Mason Implosion will warm your hearts, ears and minds with their exemplary musicianship and snappy dress sense. Playing the songs with arrangements that allow space and intimacy, the Implosion seek to inform as well as entertain – to inform you that yes, music can be whatever you want if you just let yourself be drawn in and taken away.

So. The story continues; there is more to come. Music is the closest we have to expressing the inexpressible - the quest continues.
