About Me

Scot Ruggles was born in a quaint suburb of Boston on February 8th 1977. While growing up Scot was immediately introduced to sports. His Father, Sandy, was a teacher at the town's High School and was the Head Coach of the football and hockey teams. Scot's sister Mary took quick notice of the sporting heritage in the family as well. They would go to their father's football games on Friday nights and to their delight were able to stand on the sidelines and watch. This had a tremendous impact on Scot. The "Patriots" as the team was called were filled with gifted athletes and won many championships under his father. Scot knew very early in life that he wanted to be a star and he achieved this by playing the game of football. After a highly successful high school career in both football and hockey Scot went to college. He enjoyed the game of football so much that he decided that coaching would be his career. During college, Scot interned at Harvard University. He coached at different football camps for high school players. He was excelling at coaching and he hadn't even left college yet. After his playing days ended, Scot took several coaching positions in the highly competitive world of Division 1 college football. It seemed wherever Scot went success followed. He coached a team to a National Top 20 ranking and won a college Bowl Game. Each time Scot took a coaching job at a school it came with more responsibility. He was on his way, until one fateful decision by his Head Coach put Scot into a position he had never done before. The school was asked to partake in a commercial for a local hospital. During the shoot of the commercial Scot realized something, he loved it. One of the producers asked him if he had ever acted before. After the shoot Scot began to think about acting but put it on the back burner as coaching was his passion.Scot accepted a coaching position at Harvard University. Not only is Harvard noted for their academics, but for the school's football talent. He successfully coached Harvard to a winning season. During that time there was a casting call for some to play a "coach" in a Dunkin' Donuts commercial with All-Pro New England Patriots player Richard Seymour. Scot thought to himself, Hey, what do I have to lose? He went to the audition and performed as if he'd been acting his entire life. Scot was picked over many other actors. He truly couldn't believe it! Scot felt alive while on set. The acting bug was beginning to bite and it would begin to bite harder soon after.Scot got a call from a Boston casting company to try out for a part in a movie that was being filmed in Boston. He agreed and went to the casting office. He was asked to improv a few lines. Scot did and then left; not thinking he would get a call because of the competition. While driving home Scot got a call. It was the Casting Director asking if he could be at the Ritz in Boston in half an hour. Scot eagerly went. While waiting outside the door of a hotel room he asked a stranger, "What's this movie called"? It was for the highly acclaimed movie 'The Departed' and behind that door was Martin Scorsese himself. Scot met with Scorsese for a bit and then began his audition improving as before. Although Scot eventually didn't get the part the fact that he loved acting and truly believed in his talent he was forced to make a decision.Harvard's football season was to start up and he had to report to camp. Scot thought for weeks leading up to this moment;did he want to stay with coaching, make a good living and continues to rise through the ranks or would this inner fire for acting that he couldn't quell change his life forever. In the end Scot went with his heart, he gave his notice at Harvard, packed his car with what he could carry and drove to Los Angeles. While in LA Scot quickly got acting work. He starred in a reality show on Spike TV called Murder and was asked to come back for the All-Star finale. Scot been involved in small independent movies and a few TV Shows.IMDb Mini Biography By: Chris Beausoleil My fear is not failing, my fear is living with regrets.
