This Dire Day was formed in the Autumn of 2006 in Olean, New York. They immediately hit the Western New York and Northern Pennsylvania hardcore scenes showcasing their talents and winning over the hearts of their audience.
This Dire Day recorded 6 songs in 2007 at MoonStar Productions with their line-up consisting of Jon Hamilton on guitar, Nick Andrus on drums, Mike Crawford on bass and Don Coon on vocals. They released 2 of their fan favorites “Love†and “Forever†on a demo titled “Casting Shadowsâ€.
In 2008 This Dire Day entered a Battle Of The Bands contest in Olean, New York. Niko Parson replaced Don Coon on vocals. They took first place as the crowd favorite winning a free recording session with Insight And Sound Studios. This is where their second CD titled “Kill Everything†was born with a limited pressing of only 100 copies.
This Dire Day took some time off from live shows to regroup, purchase a van for touring and write some new material. They are back in 2009 with the tightest line-up yet consisting of Jon Hamilton on guitar and vocals, Nick Andrus on drums, Tyler Foster on bass and Darin G. on vocals. The band took back to local scene opening for Fuse TV’s Bodog Battle Of The Bands winners Ahimsa Sunrise.
New doors have opened for this once “small town band†with the addition of Manager Ariale Miller. This Dire Day have been asked to be part of a Compilation CD designed to raise money and awareness for the charity called, To Write Love On Her Arms. They are a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping those that need help with depression, addiction and suicide find the help they need. Over the past few years To Write Love On Her Arms have been able to help thousands.
The compilation titled “11th Hour Confessions†will be made available for sale in all digital stores including iTunes, Rhapsody, Wal-Mart, Napster, and Amazon. As well as being featured on various podcasts throughout the world. This Dire Day’s song will also be available as a ringtone that their fans can purchase upon the release.
Watch out for their fresh new album “Canceling The Alarms†to be released in Spring of 2009 with their current line-up of Jon Hamilton on guitar and vocals, Nick Andrus on drums, Ken Smith on bass and Darin G. on vocals. This year This Dire Day are planning to do some label shopping and embark on a wild Summer tour.
