REMAINS

Rising from the ashes of the well-known Sunbury group Defect, Remains are a 5 piece outfit determined to push through whatever comes their way.
Guitarist Kane, drummer Benny and vocalist Sharpy are the 3 members who originally came from Defect, bringing their knowledge and experience within the music scene to a new project, and using that to help push it along.
Kane’s bottom end hardcore riffs and rhythms combined with Benny’s determination never to take the easy way out for any work done behind the kit to bring a crushing musical entity to life. This is all finished off with Sharpy’s full range of both clean and heavy vocals, displaying an aptitude for highs, lows, and everything in between.
Finally settling on the first steady lineup in almost a year, the band has released their first material, the 6 track E.P Vitriol. Mixing a number of different genres, from punk to hardcore to rock to melodic death metal, Vitriol in itself has proven that this up and coming group definitely has what is needs to take on the big guns.
The unbridled aggression that makes the band heavy sits perfectly alongside the quiet, slower moments in the songs without ever destroying the flow of the music itself. Branching between frantic blast beats and quiet eerie passage, the band manages to fuse all these different elements into cohesive, listenable songs.
Not happy to settle for a short release that is over before it begins, Remains have produced an E.P that shows what it’s like to let a song explore itself fully before it finishes, but without pushing things too far and overstretching it, a fine line to tread, and one which many bands before have failed to follow.
Nowadays there are so many bands out there choosing to copy and replicate their idols but not move any further, resulting in the metalcore scene becoming overcrowded with clones, with only a few ever attempting to actually push above and beyond the ordinary boundaries of what the genre encompasses.
This is what Remains have set out to do; inject new life and bring a breath of fresh air to a genre that is quickly becoming stale and monotonous. Pushing above and beyond the norm, Remains are set to soar in the years to come.Remains tour
