Director : Claudia La Bianca.Picture the actual theater in "Cinema Paradiso", the traditional Sicilian town,
with the narrow pebbled road; the boys on the bicycles and the attitude from
the Godfather.La Bianca was born in Sicily, Italy in 1978. By the time she was eleven years old,
she was sneaking around town painting murals or whatever she could use to depict
her dream world. Her greatest inspiration comes from her artiistic family, most particular,
from Dominic, her oldest brother, who was a Director.
La Bianca specialized in fashion design at an Italian institute of arts. At the age of
18, after finishing school, La Bianca soon realized that she needed to expand her
horizon and see the world. She packed up and left the beautiful splendor of Sicily -
with no money and no fear. She settled in Miami Beach, in 1997, working in the daytime as a storyboard artist,
costume and set designer, for music videos and commercials. At night, she painted
her dream world. To fill the void in creative desire, she moved to New York City in November 2004,
where she took a filmmaking program at the New York Film Academy. During film
school, La Bianca discovered a great love for filmmaking.
After graduating, she directed and produced a number of independent short-films
and music videos for bands all around the world. In 2007, among 12,000 international submissions, La Bianca was a finalist on the
TV competition show for filmmakers, "On the Lot": produced by Steven Spielberg and
Mark Burnett.
The Jury was comprised of: Carry Fisher: (Star Wars, Postcard Form the Edge),
Brett Ratner: (Red Dragon, Rush Hour trilogy and X-Men 3); Garry Marshall:
(Pretty Woman, Georgia Rules) and Jon Avnet (Green Fried Tomatoes).
Her work was met with great reviews by the judges. Brett Ratner said of her:
“You are one natural born filmmakerâ€. Jon Avnet confirmed this by saying that:
“Your energy is needed on set when shooting a feature film, keep being yourselfâ€.La Bianca recently completed a feature film entitled: LA CUEVA DE LOS SECRETOS
and Is now working on the development of 3 other feature films (one in her native
Sicily and the other two in the United States). ART, FREEDOM and PASSION are the
three words that best describe La Bianca. They have become a reputation and
trademark for her flourishing career.
