ABOUT ME and DAVY DEOVTEES
I have been a Monkees fan since I was 8 years old thanks to an older brother with great taste and MTV re-running the episodes in the 1980s. I took to Davy early on. One of the earliest memories I have is singing along to "I Can't Get Her Off Of My Mind" and "Forget That Girl". I even have a cassette of myself singing along to "Pleasant Valley Sunday" when I was 8 years old!
I started Davy Devotees Fanclub back in 1995 with a website which you can view at http://www.geocities.com/davydevotee/dd2.html
Soon I decided to start releasing newsletters through the mail. The first Davy Devotees Digest was released in February 1996 and the last was in December 2001. Davy gave me "official" status in July 1999 (see picture below). I continue to run the fanclub online and enjoy meeting new friends and fans! My husband and I along with Davy Devotees and our Monkees collection were featured in the Canadian television show, "Fanatical" in June 2007. I was interviewed for the official A&E biography of Davy for The Biography Channel which aired in the Fall 2008. Some of my collection was featured there as well.
One thing I like to stress is that The Monkees were more than a manufactured pop group. They all have become successful solo artists, performers, etc. So, even though I run a fanclub for Davy I admire them all and thank them for the joy and people they've brought into my life.
I am a big follower of Davy's theatrical performances in addition to traditional concerts (as you can see from the pictures I have posted on here). It has taken me many years of searching to find items from his plays across the globe and I hope it gives you as much pleasure in seeing programs, etc as it does for me to share them with you! I now have all of the items in my collection displayed on my Pics link. This is the side of Davy that many people are unfamiliar with in any great detail anyway...so I hope in this way I can help spread the word that Davy is more than a Monkee (as are all 4 members of the group).
