About Me

All the Dead Pilots is among William Faulkner's Collected Stories, published in 1951. For quite some time, I had hopes of using a Faulkner character or title to name a band. The idea was simple, to draw an analogy between Faulkner's stream of consciousness style writing and what it's like to play live. You know what you're playing, you're just not really thinking about it. ATDP's collected band experiences span more than a decade of touring, recording and playing with some of the most heralded (and amazingly unheralded) indie bands on the planet. We strive to be creative. and push forward because of the exuberance, energy, unity and plain and simple fun involved in playing live shows. We live for those stream of consciousness style performances where everything simply clicks. We are from Baltimore, Balmer, Charm City, The City That Reads. Much like the town, our bark is not nearly as strong as our bluecollar bite. Simply put, we are rather quiet and soft-spoken and save the intensity for the stage. The comparisons have been across the board. For some, we display the energy of Fugazi. For others, our songwriting is much like that of Jawbox or Burning Airlines. At times our vocals are reminiscent of Sunny Day Real Estate and Far.
