I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Welcome to the official MySpace page of the Columbia, South Carolina alumnae chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha!
As ZTA alumnae, we are proof that “Zeta is forever.” We are graduate students, young professionals, working moms, homemakers, grandmothers, and retirees. While we hail from all over the country and from various colleges, our membership in ZTA gives us a common bond. While we have different careers, hobbies, interests, and passions, we are brought together by our sisterhood.
If you’re a recent college graduate, we understand that you may be suffering from “sorority burn-out.” The great thing about the alumnae world is that it is completely different from life as a collegiate Zeta. We’re low-key and informal. We don’t keep points. We don’t levy fines. We meet once a month for fun and chatting among friends. If you miss a meeting, it’s fine! Don’t want to be an officer? That’s fine, too! Your level of involvement is completely up to you.
And if you’ve been out of school for years, we understand that you may feel uncomfortable joining a group where you don’t know anyone. Well, we promise we don’t bite! At our meetings, there is ample time to meet and get to know our members. After a few visits, we’re sure you’ll feel right at home.
We meet once a month between August and May. Please message me here on MySpace if you would like to be added to our email/Evite list. Include your name, your collegiate chapter, and your email address. Also, please subscribe to the blog on this page. We will be updating it regularly to let all of you know about upcoming meetings, service projects, social gatherings, and news.

My Interests

Many of our meetings are social in nature. We love to play Bunko, have wine tastings, and often meet for dinner at one of Columbia’s awesome restaurants. We’ve had pizza nights and Taco Tuesdays. Our annual Christmas party is the highlight of the year.

We are also committed to service. We participate annually in the Columbia Walk for Life. During the holidays, we donate to Toys for Tots. We also host a Garage Sale to raise money for the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation and Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

We also lend our support to the local collegiate chapter here in Columbia – Beta Omicron Chapter at the University of South Carolina. We help out during formal fall recruitment, meet for Founders Day in October, and lend a hand at their annual golf tournament.

No matter what you like to do, you’re bound to find something you enjoy in our chapter!

I'd like to meet:

Zeta Tau Alpha alumnae and collegians from all over South Carolina, especially in Columbia

Heroes:

The nine founders of Zeta Tau Alpha – Maud Jones Horner, Della Lewis Hundley, Alice Bland Coleman, Mary Jones Batte, Alice Grey Welsh, Ethel Coleman Van Name, Helen M. Crafford, Frances Yancey Smith, and Ruby Leigh Orgain.

Themis, the Greek goddess of justice and the patron goddess of Zeta Tau Alpha
