After years of inactivity/recovery/call it what you will, Midget have risen from the ashes of their own personal pheonix/flames and.... oh, what a crock!!! We're playing again, and have recently released a new 7" vinyl single as the first taster of Midget circa the noughties. Details are as follows:
-MIDGET ‘From Yr Head to Yr Hands’ b/w ‘$345 Speeding Ticket’ (W&R002) – 7†Vinyl and free download –
To the surprise, excitement, and bewilderment of many Midget returned to the live arena a year or so ago. After blowing out the cobwebs with a smattering of shows in NSW and VIC the band entered Megaphon Studios with producer Jonboyrock and proceded to knock out a few new songs, two of which are featured on this new 7" vinyl release.
'From Yr Head to Yr Hands' is classic Midget, all stop/start syncopated rhythms and abrasive guitars, but with melody to die for and a dual vocal attack that harks back to their earliest work.
‘$345 Speeding Ticket’ is a Midget punch to the face, only to kiss yr bruise afterwards… tight as tight can be, with a huge chorus, and a guitar finale that is totally chaotic yet still… melodic. There’s that word again, but that’s the thing that has always set Midget apart from their contemporaries… the songs. All in all it’s the perfect document of a band rediscovering their shared power and irreverently letting lose.
With incredible artwork by Glenn Smith this makes for one mighty fine package of vinyl goodness.

EXPLODE.
Such is my stream-of-consciousness recollection of the Midget experience.
So after years dividing our time between flotsam, jetsam, r'n'r (rest and recovery), plus many musical pursuits (The Starboard Cast, Golden Mean, New Wave Hookers et al), MIDGET - the mid-late 90s band from Sydney via Brisbane, Australia - got together, got drunk, and somehow ended up in a rehearsal studio again. Young and full of the devil indeed*
