About Me
I was born on November 20th 1960 in Gloucester, UK. My Dad was Lithuanian, he came to the UK as a displaced person after WW2, my Mum was from Bradford in Yorkshire, she met my Dad when she was posted in a WAAF camp in Gloucester and Dad was resident in a displaced persons camp. Dad passed away in November 1976 after a 2 year battle with cancer, Mum passed away in December 2006 after a short illness and a hard life. I could not return to the UK for her funeral, I have been and visited her grave and all I wanted to do was say "ok that's enough, get up and talk to me" but she cannot and will not. I hate graves, I hate knowing that my Mum is in the cold cruel earth, I do not want to be buried.I was born with a cyst in my left tibia. Today, things like this can be identified with scans, but in 1960 they did not do this. When I started trying to walk my leg started to bend and I was taken to hospital. My Dad was Lithuanian and spoke with a strong accent, it was Xmas time and only locums were working so I was seen by an Asian locum with bad English. He diagnosed me with rickets (a common disease in India but we grew our own veg and stuff so this was not a good diagnosis) and just put a bandage on my leg. After 2 weeks of me screaming (I do not remember this I was only 1) Mum took me back to the hospital and it was then discovered, through an X-Ray, that I had a cyst. It was removed and they had to split my tibia in half to get it out, so they used bone from my other leg to support this. I spent 11 years in calipurs. At the age of 17 I had a motorbike accident and broke it again, in the same place. I was just about to start a modelling career when this happened. Before the bike accident my legs were straight but scarred, and the model agency that wanted me said they would sort this with plastic surgery, unfortunately the bike accident did me in right and proper and my leg has been knackered ever since. My brother was also born with a cyst (it is a congential defect apprantley), his was on the brain, on removing it they damaged his optic nerve and so my brother is visually impaired, but he is one sound bloke. Due to ongoing problems, at the age of 43 I had my left knee replaced and 10 months later I had my right hip replaced, I sincerely hope that is my lot for surgery, I do not think I can face anymore.I have been married twice, the first time to Russell Burnett on June 20th 1981. We lost a baby together and quite frankly it made me loose my marbles and I did things I should not have done. Russell did not want the marriage to end, but I felt that the way I acted was wrong and so we divorced in 1990. We still remain friends and when I left the UK to come to Australia he and his wife (they have 3 children now, how mint is that?) came to say goodbye, and his wife, Portland, is a truly wonderful lady and I am glad that they have found each other.I spent 17 years of my life with John, not all of it was rubbish, I have very good memories of some of the time with John, the holidays and his sheer wit, but, John has a tendancy for violence which, unfortunately was directed at me. John, in himself, is a really nice bloke. He is very poplular with people and can hold an audience for hours with his banter. As I have said, unfortunatley he has a dark side, such a shame really. I will not detail it all but he has broken my nose 3 times, my ribs, my jaw, my shoulder and split my face open. Nonetheless, we have a beautiful son, Ned, who is with his Dad. That breaks my heart and even typing this makes me cry. I love my boy, but what happened at the end of my time with John and Ned is far far too painful for me to re-visit at this point. So, I am now in Australia with my Martin, my beautiful wonderful Martin. I never flew until I was 40 (my first flight was to a Numan gig in Brussells for my 40th birthday). In the last year I have flown nearly twice around the globe. We married on 18th August here in Sydney, it was brilliant with friends from the UK, family from New Zealand and good friends from Australia, it truly was a day to remember (Photos in my pics!).My biggest love, besides my Martin of course, is GARY NUMAN. I have followed him since 1979, I have met him loads of times, and also I have met his wife Gemma, who is a truly fantastic lady, love and respect to her. It is through my love of Gary Numan that I eventually joined AFE net and with the support and guidance of people there I made the decision to leave John and his violence, and my son, who I miss every minute of every day, the UK and come to Oz to be with my Martin. In turn, I have been volunteering for Starlight Children's Foundation
http://www.starlight.org.au/ and through this a wonderful man, that is Kevin Spencer, is auctioning a limited pressing of a sanctioned Numan disc for Starlight (as of 25/06/07 this record sold for 2501.50 UK pounds which is approx 6K in Oz). Now I have never met Kevin, I have spoken to him quite a bit on the phone and exchanged many emails and stuff. This guy is one of lifes true diamonds. My main aim for the near future, is to return to the UK, obviously primarily to see my beautiful boy, but also to share a hug, beer and a chat with Kevin. Thank God the world has people like him, it would not survive if we did not.I realise I have not said much about my son, it is hard, he is beautiful, he looks very much like me, I love him, I miss him, every minute, every day. I remember the day he was born, holding him up to my shoulder and walking around rocking him and whispering to him how much I love and adore him and would always be there. Ok so I am far away, but I will always be his mum and I will always be there for him when he needs me, nuff said except of course, I love you my Ned, take care and make me proud eh son?
