Hello, principally I’m a singer and songwriter with no style in specific… I just sing. Principally in metal bands.
First of all I came from a teacher’s family, and they are very artistic like my father who’s a very great classic guitar player, my mom who teach me to draw, write and more, my grandma who sings very beauty, my grandpa who’s a violinist and guitar player, and my uncle who’s an versatile artist.
I started to sing at the years of 8 in the choir of the school being the principal voice (actually I get started seriously at the years of 14) and then I discover that I don’t just sing opera’s style and I started to experimented singing the music I liked, like (one of my favorites band at today) Yes and many mores like Queen and many others, because my father was a rocker at young and he show me a lot of bands when I was very child (maybe at the years of 3 or 4) anyway, the rock music is very deep in me and a very strong influence because my father introduced me in this.
I ever had a very special love for the arts in generic (drawn, music, martial arts, poetry and more) because I get started drawing very young (4 years old) and then I discover the love for the guitar but at those years I was very child (I though) to practice so I only sang (in secret because I was very shy). Then my dad leaves the home and starts another life in other. ( I’m still joining with him, he is one of my biggest influences) and then I started to go an artistically school, a late time (at the years of 8) I my dad gives me my firs progressive rock album: “YES 90125†and then I started to hear more heavy music like Iron Maiden, Megadeth, etc. Then at the years of 10 I get my first Iron Maiden album: “Brave new World†and I discovered that I can do the same music (but in those times I just sang).
Long time after at the years of 13 I go to an arts academy where I discover (eventually) that I could play the bass guitar and I had very aptitudes ( Actually I played the piano, now I repent of) and I was at drawing and painting class, of course that then I choose for completely study music ( I still drawing).
Then I had to left the academy at very short time for stupid money problems, but I practice for my own count, and then I start to practice guitar with a very small guitar that I had when I was a child, and I feel in love of it, not very time late my dear mom(L) gift me my first electric guitar (still I play with it :D ) an Squire by Fender Stratocaster, and I played all the day and trying to learn something of my father’s teaching me (he is a very virtuosity classic guitar player), but I don’t see him very much but I try to learn the most I can. And then form part of some bands that doesn’t work.
Then in other school, I start to join with classmates after school and heard music and do a lot of shits more, and they says me that I sang like a pro singer (in the moment I don’t get it, and think they was joking) and shows me to their parents like the show of the day (The things are not changed still XD) and I get more seriously.
After the time I form a band that doesn’t work because the things of life, but even that I don’t surrender and I start to show that I can sing in other class, I joined to Rodrigo Cerda (guitar player & compositor) who’s one of my best friends at the day, and start to compose some songs.
We were very happy making music and creating art because we have a lot of things in common and start seriously to form a real band. Then not a long time(at the years of 14), we start to play with William Stone in a school show. The things was working and then Camilo Pizarro (bass player) Join to us forming a thing that was more like a real band (not like others that unfortunately doesn’t work) and then we start to search for a drummer, and in that right moment Rodrigo Cerda tell us that he had a friend of his other band (Arcadia) played drum, and he join to us, his name is Fernando Villareal, and we formed Fullgore at the day is our band. Then I meet two guys whom wants to I sing with their band and they told me they was searching for a vocalist and I joined to them and they was my second serius band called Sin Silencio. At those, all was working very cool and I was with girlfriend two bands and playing a lot, but at soon time all the things changed… William decides to leave Fullgore and we start to loose hopes… Even this we were strong and carry on with our dream.
After a long time (2 years) my girlfriend leaves me and I fell in a deep depression that obligates me to leave one of my bands. And I choose to leave Sin Silencio. All was hard at that time and I was very sad, and that was a reason for the things started to fallow the wrong way, anyways I decide to hold on with my dreams and Fullgore was a very great part of me, because in Fullgore a have my best friends and we decide to continue at the day.
After that I start to hear a lot of hard rock music (I know, this doesn’t have a very relationship with all that I told, yet). At years of 17 I decide to form my solo band with people that I knew and I start to write a lot of songs, the name of the band will be Rodrigo Varela’s Unbreakable (and I still working on that), and it’s my soloing band when I play the guitar and sing at the same time, playing my own songs with a different style of the other bands I had, and is so simple that I wanted to do a different band that had the best of all the styles that I like, coming a very weird kind of hard rock with metal, power pop, classic rock and progressive influences (sounds not very friendship relation XD), and I start to experimented but not intentionally, I just write songs that I like and try the rest like it how it sounds.
A short time ago I meet Ives Gulle (Garden Bitch lead singer) and I told him that I have a solo project that sounds like his band and he told me that he have to think about it. After a week he talk with my drummer and invited us (Fullgore) to see a Kiko Loureiro’s show in Valparaiso and we agree, we talk a lot and had a great time. The day after (2008) we joined again to see the Kiko’s show in Santiago and he ask me if I want to join his new project Husar, a metal opera band where sings a lot of renowned singers and musicians from the national scene, and I don’t think very much and I say: Yes!, and after the time we start to practice with Husar and we opened for the Ex- Nightwish lead singer: Tarja Turunen (my first great show, Thanx Ives).
After a few weeks (At years of 18) of a Husar song record, the producer and Garden Bitch guitarist Nicolas Arce ask me if I want to be part of a band project that plays a new kind of heavy metal, and I agree, the band’s name will be MAZE, when I will be the lead singer. Not a long time after, we record some singles and now we still working on our first album and that’s all :). Enjoy it
