In 1991, an ambitious twenty-something year old Writer set out to enter into the Music Industry. While this creative individual wanted to become a Rap Artist, he focused his attention on writing for different genres of music. The result was a collection of songs that (though unpublished and unrecorded), gained attention both from industry associates as well as his friends and peers. One of his most notable accomplishments was recognition by ASCAP in their annual Lester Sill Songwriting Workshop (formerly the R&B Songwriting Workshop). In 1997, this individual took a strong leap of faith and formed “Tear-A-Wrist Records” - the name he coined from his DJ moniker. Being a White Label project, DJ Tear-A-Wrist did manage to secure distribution on his own with an independent distributor, getting the EP "Nightcrawler", to Japan. To his credit, DJ Tear-A-Wrist also charted in the top ten of an independent Record Pool (SURE), as one of their “Sure Shots” to make it in the music biz! However, a lack of experience, assistance, and capital all contributed to the collapse of the label. While “Tear-A-Wrist” was the name for the record company, as a recording artist this DJ went by the pseudonym “Deviled Tongue,” which he also utilized for his publishing company under ASCAP. Today, Deviled Tongue is back as a Manager, Producer, and still writing. His new label connection (HEAT ENTERPRISE, INC - Formerly HEATROCK ENTERTAINMENT) is going through a transition, becoming on of Brooklyn, NY's fastest rising progressive recording companies. Along with Gracie Productions and EMI - one of the world's most notable major labels, Deviled Tongue is cultivating the type of serious talent that the industry is used to signing; Bands that have longevity, and can sell with almost no promotion. “Wild Wet”, “Veronica Kole”, "Todio”, "Falling In Two", and "Jahi" are just a few of the acts that have gained some recognition, and will possibly be the next big names in music. “Because I am an artist myself, I want to help guide others to a clear path within the industry. A good manager is like a good parent: They nurture, protect, counsel, and when necessary scold, to aid in the development and growth of their progeny.”
