About Me

OUR DEBUT ALBUM IS FINALLY HERE!!!!!After our amazingly warm and encouraging response at the Western Music Association Festival last November in Albuquerque, New Mexico we were urged by both fans and colleagues alike to produce an album. Well, it's finally here! This collection of songs from our repertoire is playfully assembled on this our debut CD. With songs as well known as Ghost Riders in the Sky to our own original, “Golden Grizzly,” a humorous tale told in song about a true-life figure in California history, William Holcomb, a miner who discovered gold by accident while chasing a bear he’d shot at and missed. It is that element of story and whimsical fortune that not only keeps the American West alive and in the hearts of people everywhere but also that which we wish to honor musically. As our name suggests, we are an homage to The Sons of the Pioneers whom we consider to be the “masters of cowboy music” and our album is in honor of them as well as many others who have inspired us such as Gene Autry and Walt Disney. The album also includes tributes to the works of Bob Wills, Billy Hill and Alan Menken along with some (what we call) “Schtick” preceding our version of the rollicking Western Swing classic San Antonio Rose.We hope you enjoy what we've put together! It is available at our website www.TheTumblingTumbleweeds.com and www.CDBaby.com."It is our belief that it is the “story” within each western song that makes it so uniquely western and gives it a life of its own. The cowboy era was an era of legend and folklore and it is that element of story that we Tumbleweeds wish to honor, as well as the integrity of the richly harmonious musical legacy of the Sons of the Pioneers themselves. Their sound transports us to a time and place that was so much more innocent and peaceful than that of our world today and it is that sound that drew us to their music and that which we also wish to carry on."
