Bio
My name is Kelvin Paige, a.k.a Charm. I am an 18yr old artist, producer, song writer from Kansas City, Missouri. I started writing songs when I was around 12yrs old; actually I started writing and singing R&B, until I was around 14. At 14 I was a freshman and I began making beats and free-styling. I got so good at free styling, that my older cousin (who is also an artist of Empyre Records) told me that I should rap and still continue writing R&B. I recorded my first song at a friend’s house that also had computer software called fruity loops, and with fruity loops he showed me how to use it to make beats, and burned me a copy of the software. I put it on my mom’s computer, and from then on I never stopped making beats. I always strived for a unique mastered sound. I Don’t base my beats on what’s going on around me or what’s the trend. I want to set trends. My brother and I both are heavily influenced by some 80’s and most definitely 90’s music, because the music was more… creative, way more original.
When I write songs, I don’t write them, they come, and fast. Very rarely do I have to put thought into what I’m am going to say on a song or, what hook fits. If can’t hear anything to it right off the back, the instrumental will just stay in my head all day and, I get so familiar with it that the words just come like my favorite song was stuck in my head and I had to try to remember the lyrics. Every song I do is basically free style if its rap, but I would prefer to call it organized free style, because I kind of brain storm, the theme. Where am I on this track? What’s the theme? And then I put it together like that. I don’t just go in the booth and rap without strategy, I make sure that the words I choose to use and everything makes sense, at the same time as being hot. I don’t just have one style, I like making , and trying different styles, in saying that what I want to do in the entertainment industry is put the fun and creativity back into the game, like Ludacris, Busta Rhymes energy and feel wise, but stay lyrical too. We want to appeal to a broader audience as well as still staying true to the people/ “Da Fam†and the music while being as original as possible! Oh yea and, REP MY CITY!!!- Charm A.K.A Kelz
