..Brody Dalle was born on the 01/01/1979 and grew up in Fitzroy, Melbourne, Australia. Her early days were filled with rage and hate which is where a lot of inspiration for her music has sprung. Her mother kicked out her biological father when she was still a young girl. Her mother then remarried and had a second child. She felt like the outsider and took to the streets, turning her back on her home. Around age 13, Her and her mothers vitriolic relationship came to a boiling point. They both hated each other and showed it by, on one occasion, strangling each other in there kitchen. Brody started cutting, doing drugs, and skipping school. At age 15, she was kicked out of the public school she had been attending and sent to an all-girls Catholic school. She found a release for her outrage upon hearing the punk rock band Discharge. Its angry, screaming, sound was what she felt and wanted to say. She soon formed her own band, Sourpuss, which got the chance to play Australias Somersault Festival along with bands like Sonic Youth and The Beastie Boys. There, while packing up drums, Brody met her future husband, Tim Armstrong (Rancid).
Once she turned 18, she moved to L.A. to be with Tim and start a new band. The Distillers started out as Brody, Kim Fuelleman, Matt Young, and Rose Casper. Since the release of there self titled debut album in 2000, the bands format has changed several times. Matt and Kim left and are now a part of the band Original Sinners. Rose stayed for the creation of there second album for which they brought on two new members, Andy Outbreak (formerly of the Nerve Agents), and Ryan Sinn. Before it was even released, Rose realized her heart wasnt in it and left the band. The bands new formula remains just the three, but what a powerful combination it is. There second record, Sing Sing Death House, was released in 2002 and was unquestionably better than the first. They finally tuned there sound making more use of rhythm, melody and catchy passionate chorus. Brodys rasping voice truly is unique and burning, leaving a mark like none other. Unlike many punk rock bands of today, There sound is all there own, and no song can be mistaken for the previous.After the divorce, Brody underwent a complete image overhaul; she cut off her mohawk, denied her punk roots, even changed the Distillers' raw punk sound on there third album. In a move that completely cut all ties with her former punk persona, changed her last name from Armstrong to Dalle. While mistakenly reported as her maiden name (which is actually Pucilowski), the name change was because of actress Beatrice Dalle, who is the star of her favorite film, Betty Blue. It was because of Beatrice that brody dyed her hair from blonde to black.She have made peace with her family, She has overcome her tumultuous past. shes found an amazing, supportive Husband and band mates that are in it for the long run. Shes the lead vocalist/guitarist of The Distillers.. She gave birth to her first kid (daughter), Camille Homme, with Josh Homme on 17/01/2006..And is currently recording with her new band Spinnerette.
