About Me

Was born in Bremen, Germany. My mummy's English, my dad was German, was raised bilingually, which I am infinitely grateful for; have also been to England over 40times I guess, I feel very English sometimes when I notice how distant German's tend to be. But basically the world is what you make of it yourself...
So, I fell in love with music, before I could even think. Jazz has always been around me, such as Rock, Blues and Soul. JJ Cale and The Beatles must be the first artists I actually remember. My first CD was from Da Luniz - I Got 5 On It, then I listend to German HipHop such as Freundeskreis, Thomilla, Dynamite Deluxe etc. Then I turned into a gangsta ;)... at least from my choice of music.. I started listening to Kool Savas and MOR at the age of 11 or 12 and all I did was rap those songs all day long, if I wasn't rapping NWA, Dre, Eazy, Too Short, MC Eiht or Ice Cube. At the age of 16 I started clubbing and finally found out, why everyone was loving the Prodigy and Fatboy Slim... Still great music :)! Also reggae came up as another style, which I liked after basically having lived of HipHop for straight 10 years.
My father died on the 29th of April 2005, I was 17 and that basically turned me upside down. I started to dig even deeper within myself and came to the conclusion, that my only consistency is that I am in constant change. Every move I make, every song I listen to, every contact with people, every word I say cannot be reversed and makes me the person I am now. So basically I have no right to restrict myself from things, that actually appeal to me, such as other styles of music, which I had strictly denied up until then
Constantly and consistently changing... Nice paradoxon if you think about it :)!
My best friend died a year later, which gave me my final push! I love life and I love having known these special people and that feeling it will all be over so soon, made me accept, that fuck, I can't let this one life be dominated by fear, pressure or whatever. I became more at peace with myself!
I like to read a bit more, like to go swimming, love seeing my sister and being around the people who are close to me.
Anyway, after finishing my Abitur (or a-levels) I started working for Amir. Together with our friends and partners Butch, Sebastian Lutz, Caio Duncan and Rocky we have founded bouq.; my job is running the label bouq.records and the promotion agency bouq.promo, which looks after labels such as AFU Limited, AFU Laboratory (Thomas P. Heckmann's labels) and Suchtreflex (our buddies Piemont's aka Phunklarique & Dejonka's label). I am very proud of our work and convinced we're heading in the right direction, we have a great team and I am very pleased about that!
Life is good, life is shit, whatever, it's consistently in change and whatever you make of it!
Oh yeah, support Monika's organization No Historical Backspin against racism:
As Banksy's "List of people who should be shot" says:
1. Religious Fanatics
2. Fashist Thugs
3. People making lists stating who should be shot

Will write more to literature and movies when I find some time; I don't watch TV (except a good football/soccer match or when tying my shoelaces), waste of bloody time, kills all conversation and you get hung up without knowing why...
