The Black Cat Swing Club

About Me

As cheesy as it sounds, the music bought us together. We wish there was a cooler tale to tell - one involving burlesque girls, tequila and seedy dives - but sadly there isn't. (The girls, tequila and seediness comes later.)

We'd all been bouncing around the jazz scene for a while, our paths crossing here and there, mainly playing Gypsy jazz (a la Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club Of France). We would always end up waxing on about how inherently beautiful the old jazz, swing and lounge standards were and how great (if a little daunting) it would be to reinterpret these tunes in the Gypsy style, but focusing more on the passion, grit, obsession, dirt and heartache with which they were written. Eventually (about July 2007), it became too unseemly to continue talking about it without actually doing something. And so here we are …

We are self-contained as a trio but we always love people come to sit in with us for kicks. If you fancy it, just message us through MySpace. We will soon record something and upload here, so keep checking back.

For booking details, message us via MySpace and we will get back to you.
