About Me
The Trinity consists of three talented innovative female poets brought together by chance during their four years of attending the High School for Contemporary Arts.
Throughout their friendship, Blackrose Reign, Lyrical Infatuation, and Marcelle Anastasia realized they had more in common that met the eye, besides them all being born of Caribbean parents, they all had a knack for the art of spoken word. These three ladies were all published poets by the tender age of fifteen with the assistance of the Ten Penny Players publishing company. In their senior year of high school, with the help of their english teacher Ms. Sonji Johnson, the three young woman produced a full blown production which they named, Seeking Empowerment: The True Journey of a Sistah! Although they are apart of The Trinity, don't get it twisted, they are all successful solo poets that can stand on their own.Marcelle Anastasia was Queens born and Bronx raised. She had always written but did not realize her gift until the tender age of 13. While attending an art school in the Bronx she realized her love for writing. Marcelle Anastasia choose to try her hand at the art of spoken word. In freshman year, Marcelle Anastasia won the best poets award at her school. During her first year of high school, Urban word's own MC k-swift came to talk about the up and coming poetry slams. This was a sign. She decided to pursue spoken word as her career. Being given the chance to see poets she admired in action fueled a fire burning within her. To this day her love for the craft has grown stronger than it ever was before. Her poems often have a trace of fiestyness attached to them letting you know right from the start she is a force to be reckoned with. She will also grab you with her melodies, and invite you into her love with her truthfulness.
Some of her influences consists of Shihan, Georgia me, Lemon, Saul Williams, Staceyann Chin, and Dalock. She has graced the stage of the famous Nuyorican's poets Cafe, The Bowery Poetry Club, City college's Erotic poetry Night, The Whitney Museum in New York City, and many venues in the Bronx.Lyrical Infatuation is a one of a kind poet. Having a strong theater background, her pieces often have a smooth rhythmic cadence. With her angelic face, you would be shocked to hear the strength wrapped in her voice. She is one infatuated with words and sounds, hence the performance name Lyrical Infatuation. Although she is an active poet, her first love is acting. She has been involved in many shows produced by CAT- the creative arts team. She has done many independent films and is looking foreword to performing with CAT in London summer of 2008. She is also featured in the 2008 Latin film festival and the 2008 Cannes film festival. Lyrical Infatuation has performed in many venues some which include, the historical Apollo theater, the Baruch performance center, City college's Erotic poetry Night, and the Whitney Museum in new York City.Blackrose Reign, the third and final member of The Trinity has been writing probably as long as she could speak. It started off as short stories, but it wasn't until after a third grade poetry performance where she received a standing ovation from her classmates did she decide to pursue poetry. With influences such as Lucille Clifton, Maya Angelou, John Murillo, Erik Mondorf, Katrinka Moore, Sonji Johnson, Georgia me, Staceyann Chin, Dana Gilmore, Queen GodIs and Kesed Ragin, it is no surprise she considers herself a womens' empowerment poet. Blackrose Reign, adopted the name because of her mysterious yet in your face style, which often inspires females to let go of the petty behavior and believe in themselves. A black rose is beautiful, powerful, and evokes so many different emotions, hence the name Blackrose Reign. Besides performing in almost every show put on by the high school she attended, winning best writer in the ninth grade and best poet in her senior year really sealed the deal. She will persistently pursue her dream to be one of the best writers and poets of her time. among other venues, she has performed, at the famous Nuyorican's Poets' Cafe, the Bronx's the Point, and City college's Erotic poetry Night. All three ladies have accomplished more than they knew they could being three black girls raised in the Bronx. The Trinity has so much more to touch this year. Whether they are performing together as a trio or one of their solo pieces, some which include their favorites, "we could be," "do you still think about me," "stolen," "this moment," or "change for me," they give it 110% each time. Look out for these ladies, Marcelle Anastasia, Lyrical Infatuation, and Blackrose Reign!
