A South Florida native, Oni Perez takes the stage, giving off an in-your-face attitude that grabs the audience’s full attention. Growing up, he knew he was funny and would bring his comedic skills to stage in high school theatre where he would participate in several productions years before he would begin his comedic career. Having married by 19, with 2 kids by 24, he suddenly found himself divorced by 26 and with these experiences he turned to comedy as an outlet for his own perception on life. His first encounter with comedy was in February 2003 in a South Florida bar where he performed on top of a pool table to a crowd of drunken university students, fittingly. His material, which ranges from marriage and children to drugs and politics reflect his lifestyle and have become his staple. After 5 years he continues to make a lasting impression with audiences and management alike at the South Florida Improvs as well other comedy club establishments spanning Florida and NYC, where he has received spots on several different showcases.Just a few years into his comedic career, Oni is one of the fastest rising performers coming up in the South Florida comedy scene, winning several contests including ’South Florida’s Fresh New Faces’, where he was given the opportunity to perform at the world famous Melrose Improv in Los Angeles, California. He was a finalist for the Las Vegas "Lucky 21" contest, the Las Vegas Comedy Festival as well as the South Beach Comedy Festival. Also, he has been a 2 time Montreal "Just for Laughs" Comedy Festival finalist. He has performed at many colleges and Universities which include the University of Miami, Florida University, Miami Dade Community College, FAMU and Florida International University to name a few.Oni is a member of the “Miami Comicsâ€, which consists of 6 culturally diverse South Florida comics. They can be found at their official website, www.MiamiComics.com and at www.myspace.com/MiamiComics. In addition to performing in comedy clubs he was cast as a co-star in “Stand Upâ€, an independent film directed and produced by Ernie Minera, which was screened at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival in October 2007.
