"Cinema is truth 24 frames per second." - Jean-Luc Godard
"All truth is God's truth." - C.S. Lewis
"The movies are an empathy machine, drawing us into other lives, allowing us to identify with those of other races, genders, occupations, religions, income levels or times in history. Good films enlarge us, and are a civilizing medium. Bad films narrow us. No films at all impoverishes us." - Roger Ebert
With these ideas in mind Cinema Vérité (French for "truth cinema") was born. We're a community of film lovers who gather monthly to examine truths found in some our culture's greatest films. All films are shown at Cinema Paradiso in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Unless otherwise noted films will be shown on the third Monday of each month. For those interested, a discussion will follow inside the theater.
All films are sponsored CityChurch Fort Lauderdale .
"Cinema Vérité, and CityChurch at large, is centered on engaging non-Christians in a dialogue about life, the claims of Scripture and the Gospel in respectful way."
- The Good News of South Florida
"It might seem odd that Taxi Driver, which was almost released with an X rating in 1976 is now being presented by a religious organization. But CityChurch is youth-driven and it sees God’s truth expressed in many unconventional aspects of life..."
