Here's a nice press release/bio put together by Watercraft World magazine...kinda explains what I do in my "spare" time.No stranger to the world of watercraft competitions, Lisa Price has a long history as competitor, water safety expert, and officiant in closed course and endurance racing, and now, cutting edge freeride events. As a runabout competitor she won her first ProAm Gran Prix and Long Course endurance national titles in the late 90’s. She migrated back to closed course racing in 2003, and ventured into ski class; this time capturing the APBA’s Region 2 Women’s Novice Ski Limited championship. Lisa has worked since 1998 with various regional rescue teams nationwide in providing water safety management to IJSBA and APBA Watercross events. On many occasions, she’s also been called upon as a race director, staging manager, chief scorer, site logisitics coordinator, and event announcer. Price is trained and certified in swift and open water rescue, as well as tow-in surfing rescue. She is also certified in advanced lifesaving by the American Red Cross.
A licensed racing member and event volunteer for the American Powerboat Association, and the International Jet Sports Boating Association, Ms. Price has also given professional legislative testimony on behalf of the American Watercraft Association in an effort to pass safe and fair boating laws.Having provided water safety expertise at every stop of the APBA Western States Cup Tour, she is the only female course marshal to work the APBA National Tour in 2007, and the only female course marshal in the world working PWC races/events on a regular basis.
Hand selected as Chief Water Safety Coordinator for the prestigious Accenture Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in 1997, she and her team provide vigilant care for the 2,000+ professional triathletes during their 3.1 mile swim in the treacherous waters of San Fransicso Bay. Ms. Price utilizes Kawasaki Jet Skis® for patrol and rescue in what is widely considered one of the most extreme sporting events in the world.Since 2004, Lisa has also been integral in the development & implentation of one of the world's largest freestyle pwc surf competitions. The HydroTurf Surf Slam Freeride Surf Competition is a unique and extreme sporting event which pits over 30 of the world's best freeride watercraft pilots against one another in their battle for the cash purse and points toward the title of IFWA World Champion in the California surf. US Competitors, along with pilots from France, Spain, Germany, Brazil, and South Africa showcase their skills in both stand up and runabout categories. The Pismo Surf Slam has secured it's position as the fifth and final stop for the next 3 year's IFWA Freeride World Championship Tour.In 2006, Lisa was honored with the International Water Safety Award for Excellence for her superior efforts in PWC race safety and education. In 2007, she received a special commendation for her contribution to National Endurance Racing from the APBA. A Project Manager by day, Lisa is the proud mother of son’s Joshua, Eric and Kristopher, and enjoys promoting water safety by working with the Junior Star Program sponsored by www.ProWatercraft.com
Ms. Price wishes to thank HydroTurf Performance Traction Products, Skat-Track Performance Products, JetPilot (http://jetpilot.com ) Time Fighter Racing, Jet Ski Unlimited, Blowsion, SPY Optics, Trick Racing Fuels, and Manteca Optometric for their ongoing support of her professional endeavors.
