Gypsy Celebration

About Me

Gypsy/Guru/Mother/Grandmother/Singer/Master-chef Ida had this idea of bringing people together in the tiniest of castles, in the middle of nowhere in The Czech Republic. The locals predictably didnt quite understand the point and felt threatened by the annual 4 day influx of Roma and Gadjos from other distant lands and cities. However today, 6 years on from that not so distant time, the locals, together with the increasing numbers of visitors from all around the world, have turned this castle into a haven for blossoming cultures from central and eastern Europe, which happily welcomes all who wish to experience music untouched by the predictable and barbarian hand of the music industry machine. :)
Gypsy Celebration annualy offers three key presentations.
1. Workshops + Seminars + Presentations
These include singing and dancing workshops, as well as film presentations and seminars by key guest speakers.
2. Childrens Camp
The summer camp is an opportunity for a multicultural meeting with emphasis on a rich and colorful program for children. Under the guidance of professional artists and specialized tutors, Roma and non-Roma boys and girls are able to pursue music, dance, theatre and painting activities. Our main aim is to focus on Roma tradition and culture
3. Music Festival
This presentation of Roma music and culture is split into 3 days and covers a variety of Roma music styles. The predominant focus is on musicians and bands from Central and Eastern Europe, although this is not a rule.
