San Antonio, Texas-based bassist PETE PEREZ first started to make a name for himself locally when he joined forces in KARION with former S.A.SLAYER guitarist Art Villareal, vocalist Chris Cronk, and drummer Frank Ferreira (later to join HELSTAR) in the summer of 1983. The group recorded a 7-track demo during the Winter of '84 and played around South Texas at now legendary venues such as the Villa Fontana and The Ritz before calling it a day in 1986.
Pete next teamed up with another S.A. luminary, drummer Bobby Jarzombek (JUGGERNAUT), and Austin-based guitarist Billy White who had just left his band WATCHTOWER. The trio's venture, CHIMERA, remained short-lived however and soon disbanded with Jarzombek joining New York metal veterans RIOT. When Riot needed a bass player after the departure of Don Van Stavern in 1990, Pete got the call and made his live debut during the band's tour of Japan in support of 'The Privilege of Power' album, documented on the 'Riot In Japan - Live!!!' CD. To date, Pete has recorded 2 live and a half dozen studio albums with Riot and toured Europe and Japan multiple times.
One of the most technically accomplished bassists in heavy rock, Pete got to showcase his impressive chops when he joined Riot band mate Bobby and his brother/guitarist Ron Jarzombek (WATCHTOWER) in SPASTIC INK, an all-instrumental outfit whose 1997 debut CD 'Ink Complete' won raves reviews in progressive circles and is hailed as a tech metal landmark to this day. Another album, 'Ink Compatible', which saw Pete sharing bass duties with such greats as Michael Manring, Ray Riendeau, Doug Keyser, and Sean Malone, followed in 2004.
In 2005, Pete was approached by legendary California metallers LEATHERWOLF and asked to lay down bass tracks for the band's stellar comeback album, 'World Asylum.' Currently, Pete plays around the San Antonio area and continues to tour with RIOT whose latest effort, 'Army Of One', was released in 2006.
