About Me
Whoever said the art of djing is dead has never heard DJ Madplanet rock a party. You’ll find Planet spinnin’ records up and down California rocking concerts, clubs, house parties, battles, and any gathering where hip-hop heads and music lovers are found nodding their head to the perfect beat. Unlike most djs where hip-hop is limited to the elements, Planet transcends as an ambassador, cultivator, and an advocate in preserving hip-hop culture and mastering your craft as one of the founders of the Northstar Chapter of the Universal Zulu Nation.
Since 1995, Madplanet has been rocking the 1s and 2s and started the Northstar Chapter of the Universal Zulu Nation. Through the Universal Zulu Nation Northstar Chapter, Madplanet has made a lasting imprint in the Sacramento hip-hop community. Planet helped organized and pioneered b-boy battles and after-school workshops for youth since the mid 90s and into the millennium. Planet has not stopped promoting the message of his mentor and Godfather of Hip-Hop culture, Afrika Bambaataa of knowledge, wisdom, freedom, justice, equality, peace, and understanding through the culture of hip-hop.
Madplanet’s current home is Planet Rock CA. where he has helped lay the foundation of Hip-Hop Dj culture along with Dj Fooders, DJ Psol, and DJ Riff-Raff, known as the Northstar Deejays/ Twelves Djs. Since 2001, Planet and crew have rocked with most hip-hop artists ranging from Mos Def, Jazzy Jeff, the Roots, Ozomatli, Blackalicious, Heiro, Living Legends, Common, Beat Junkies, Grand Wizard Theodore, Ricci Rucker, Jeru The Damaja, as well as music festivals such as Rock The Bells, and world break dancing comps such as The Mighty 4. Madplanet currently has been on tour with Afrika Bambattaa and the Soul Sonic Force, and doing contracted work for Red Bull Energy Drink, Vitamin Water, Wildstyle Technicians and Scion. As well as traveling up and down California setting up Northstar informational booths at local community events, educating the youth, and the masses about the the Universal Zulu Nation, and how to use Hip-Hop as a way to get the youth more political active.
Since 1995, Madplanet and crew have fostered the definitive art of djing with a balance of technical skill, music selection, presentation, breaking new music, and most importantly rocking the party. The culture of hip-hop started with DJing. It is no coincidence that Madplanet has revived and re-lived the genesis of hip-hop through the music he rocks of 80s, New Wave, Dancehall, Hip-Hop, Soul, Go-Go & Funk.
