This years Earth Jam was one that will forever go down in Earth Jam history as the most memorable. 2008 offered a lot of first times for Earth Jam, our first time doing 2 days, our first time doing workshops, our first time having Vegan and Vegetarian food, our first time having 2 amplified stages, and the most special was our first time have a special appearance by a famous musician.
Thank you to all the Volunteers that came out Friday night and helped us get every thing put together in a timely matter. It went very well, it stayed very organized, and with out the Volunteers we would have been there all night.
Saturday was a cold day and the energy in the park was not quite, but it started the flow of a wonderful weekend. And although there were a lot of flaws in our schedules, such as speaking time didn’t happen for many of our groups, Sorry about that and do to some equipment problems Fat Paw was unable to play, that sucked SORRY about that too and little problems here and there, Saturday in the park was very pleasant. Almost all of our 140 booths did show up and set up went very well. The music was incredible on both the Earth stage and the Galaxy stage, the workshops went well, the Lunar stage was be-boopin and The Kiddy Village did arts and craft, read books and sang music on into the evening.
Sunday morning started out slow but as the tempters climbed so did the activity in the park. The ENERGY of the day was very high, all 3 stages were jamming with awesome music the workshops were moving along with no problems, and the booths were very busy. The amount of people who came out to support Earth Jam was incredible. As early evening began to approach the news of our Special guess began to circulate through out the park. John McEuen from The Nitti Gritty Dirt Band played solo with his son Ryan McEuen who is the drummer for Elephante. He invited John Kunz who plays the Fiddle with Parley’s Drifters’ to come up and play with them. This was such a great honor for Earth Jam to have such a great musician play for us. His presents in the park was very special and even more so was the presents of his mother Mrs. McEuen and Ryan’s mother Kate. As Elephante closed out the evening on the Galaxy Stage the Fire Spinners gathered in the center of the park as Know your Roots finished out the evening on The Earth Stage, The Lunar Stage packed up there spinning cages and we bided far well until next year.
