Well, where to start. My name's Cody Maverick, and I'm from Shiverpool, Antarctica. There was a movie recently made about me by Sony / Imageworks that you may have seen...but if not, well let me tell you a little about myself.
I grew up working for the man...sorting fish for the community. Hey it was either that or sit on eggs and I wasn't about to do that. Every day I'd go out on the water and find a good swell, sometimes it meant swimming a few miles away but it was worth it to me. I had surfing in my soul man.
Big Z came to my town when I was a little kid. He's the one that got me started on the path of surfing. I wanted to grow up to be just like him! I practiced every day, keeping in mind what he said to me: "You know kid, no matter what, find a way...cause thats what winners do."
One day my whale came. Mikey, a talent scout, came to see what I could do. Unfortunately it was a very calm day and there were no waves...so I had to convince him to take me by literally chasing him down. I had to find a way, just like Big Z said. I wasn't about to give up with my dream so close!
So I came to Pen Gu Island, which is just a little South of Hawaii. Much different here...much warmer than my home town. I don't think I'll ever want to stay there again for longer than a visit. It's not like I get along with Glen anyway; he probably doesn't even miss me. No you know what, he's probably glad I left.
