There’s always something that makes certain cities stand out from the rest. While most can be characterized by urban areas with high population density, metropolitan areas, and an influx of business, others are impossible to overlook for much different reasons. In “Slim City”, the population is anything but dense. Instead, Omar “Slim” Jeffrey is the lone inhabitant, a 23-year-old whose effortless blend of charisma, talent, and ambition has landed him in the center of the South Florida entertainment maze.
But long before the cards were in place for the creation of “Slim City”, Omar was the subject of a humble, yet strict home. Born to native Jamaican parents, his father, Devon Jeffrey was a member of Jamaica’s national soccer team, while his mother Beverly, makes a living saving lives at a Jackson hospital.
Soon enough, the tall, lanky teen-fittingly nicknamed Slim, became a byproduct of the city that he was born and raised in- sunny Miami. After landing his first gig as a photographer for PartySpree.com, the premiere website for South Florida party goers, Slim used his charm and work ethic to create other opportunities on multiple mediums. He tapped into the music world as an emcee for Gambino Sound International, some of the better known disc jockeys in the state. Presently, he works the radio as an on air personality for a talk show called ‘Real talk’, which airs every Tuesday on riddims945.com or 94.5fm, a show that allows listeners to call in and express their opinions on a wide range of topics. Just in case you miss him on the radio; you can also get your dose of Slim on KaribLink TV, a Caribbean station with a rapidly growing fan base, as well as Video Mix TV which he is on 4 days out of the week and viewed in South Florida, Tallahassee, and Virginia
In an interview with a local newspaper, Slim was quoted as saying, “Hosting events is my passion. I like to make a party successful.” Luckily for him, he enjoys doing it because sooner than later, the whole world will look to pay a visit to Slim City.
