About Me

Double A-Side is a project opening in August 2007 at ARTIS , Centre for Fine Art ‘s Hertogenbosch and Stedelijk Museum ‘s Hertogenbosch curated by Ken Pratt . Coinciding with The Boulevard Festival , the project takes on the form of an exhibition at the three sites and a live music event, the Double A-Side Salo(o)n.The project’s concern is artists who are recognized as both visual artists and pop musicians.
The invited artists are Rob Churm, Steven Claydon, Caron Geary, HuMobisten, Heidi Kilpelainen, Ursula Mayer, Mario Mentrup & Volker Sattel, Angie Reed, Maaike Schoorel, Tai Shani, Martin C. de Waal.
The exhibitions open at ARTIS and SM-'s on Saturday 4 August 2007. The opening at SM-'s is at 15:00; the opening at ARTIS at 19:30 featuring a live performance by HK 119.
The Double A-Side Salo(o)n
takes place on Sunday 5 August at the Centre for Fine Art on a specially built performance stage featuring live music performances by Cherry Mash Cherry, Angie Reed, HK 119, Feral & Planning To Rock. Doors open at 20:00. On-site bar.

“DOUBLE-A-SIDE” - persbericht- kort
Beeldend kunstenaar of popmuzikant? De kunstenaars die tijdens het Theaterfestival Boulevard deelnemen aan de tentoonstelling DOUBLE-A-SIDE zijn het beide. Enerzijds lijken ze als gespleten persoonlijkheden twee totaal verschillende gedaantes aan te kunnen nemen: die van de museale kunstenaar en die van de popster op het podium; tegelijkertijd is in beide disciplines hun dubbelzijdig talent herkenbaar. Kunstenaarsinitiatief Artis presenteert i.s.m. gastcurator Ken Pratt , SM’s en CBK speciaal voor Theaterfestival Boulevard een tentoonstelling, waarin enkele hoogst originele en uitgesproken Europese kunstenaars zich op de drie locaties presenteren in bewegend beeld, object en muziek. Ze doen dit via de presentatie van bestaand werk, in discussie over hun werk en in levende lijve op het podium in hun muziekperformances. Deelnemende kunstenaars zijn Caron Geary/Feral (UK), Heidi Kilpelainen/HK119 (FI/UK), Janine Rostron/PlanningToRock (UK/DE), Angie Reed (IT/DE), Rob Churm (UK), Ursula Meyer (AT), Martin C. de Waal (NL), De Humobisten (NL), Steven Claydon (UK), Mario Mentrup & Volker Sattel (D), Tai Shani/Cherry Mash Cherry (IS/UK) en Maaike Schoorel (NL). Publiek dat tot dusver de weg naar óf de galerie óf het underground poppodium vond, krijgt nu de kans, een kunstuiting verder te kijken, via het werk van een afzonderlijke kunstenaar of de optelsom van al hun opmerkelijke creaties.
Op 4 augustus opent DOUBLE-A-SIDE om 15.00 uur in SM-s en in Artis om 19.30 uur met optredens van HK119 o.a.
Op 5 augustus vindt van 15.00-17.00 uur in het CBK een Salon plaats waarin enkele kunstenaars in gesprek zullen gaan met o.a..curator Bart Rutten van SM’s. Vanaf 20.00 geven o.a. Cherry Mash Cherry, HK 119, Angie Reed en Feral o.a. een voorstelling in het daartoe speciaal tot theaterlocatie omgebouwde CBK. Vanaf 4 augustus tot 16 september zijn werken van de deelnemende kunstenaars te bezichtigen in Artis en SM’s; in CBK tot 14 Augustus. In Artis kan tevens hun muziek worden beluisterd op een daarvoor speciaal ingerichte on demand fonotheek.
