no nonsense are a 4 piece (sometimes 5) rock / blues covers band based in Surrey / South London. The line up features Howard 'The Hat' (ex Island records session man) on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, his striking voice is second to none when it comes to powering through a good rock classic. On Lead Guitar we have Doug Lean who has played in bands such as “In from the cold” with Eric Gosling on vocals, Andy Latimer and Doug Ferguson from “Camel” with Stuart Tosh on drums. Doug also formed “Rattlesnake” with Big Jim Sullivan, Doug Ferguson, Stuart Tosh and Willy Austen.Doug played with “Kenny and the Coconuts” which was a band formed by Kenny Jones from The Small Faces and the Who, with Boz Burrell, Robert Hart, Gary Grainger and Paul Young doing mainly events for local charitable events.Doug formed “ Mike Smiths Rock Engine “ with Mike Smith from the “Dave Clark Five” in 2001 and went on to complete 3 sell out USA tours in 2003. Tragically Mike Smith suffered a broken neck at the end of 2003 and passed away in Feb 2008.Doug worked after this in Spain with Swedish producer Leif Carlquist for 3 years recording an Album for Universal with Swedish band “The Gimmicks” called “Move to the Bossa Groove” and other recordings for “Locomotion Productions” in Stockholm.On Drums we have the legendary Lloyd Ryan. Anybody who is anybody in the music world will have heard of Lloyd, he has played with Buddy Rich, Keith Moon, Gene Vincent, in fact too many to list here and rather then go into detail I would suggest you go to his own website - www.lloydryandrums.com or buy his autobiography, "A View From The Rear". Lloyd is also a renowned drum teacher and author of drum tutorials so if you are after lessons from a master who has had students such as Phil Collins, John Coughlan, Graham Broad and Derek Mackenzie once again check his website for contact details. You then have me, Jerry Davis on Bass, can’t say I have had such accomplished dealings in the music business apart from playing tenor Sax in the 80s band ON-ON (check it out on youtube), and playing 2nd tenor Sax in the old Ken Mackintosh South London Big Band. We also have Danny Lean on 2nd lead guitar, he is the son of Doug and plays with us at certain venues or as solo lead when Doug is unavailable. Danny has a great blues style and plays a mean Stevie Ray Vaughan..! We are at present playing and extensive tour of South London and Surrey's Pubs and clubs plus we have just recorded a new demo.
