September 1st, 2007 marks the first NATIONAL EVENT TOUR of Canadians that Refuse to support the Iraq War.
The Refuse and Resist Tour is a series of punk shows taking place across Canada, in every major city, launching September 1st and concluding September 22nd. No Speeches, JUST LIVE PUNK BANDS TEARING UP THE STAGE
The REFUSE AND RESIST TOUR will raise awareness with the powerful youth of Canada, to show their support for the courageous people who have left the U.S. military and come to Canada because of their opposition to the Iraq War.
These AWOL Soldiers have seen first hand what the US’s Assault on Iraq is all about, and have independently realized that what is happening is wrong. There are many lies that the American Government has been spreading to detract attention from the bloodshed and the true financial goals fueling the Illegal War. The Soldiers seeking freedom in Canada have been exposing the real truths to the Canadian and American public, and the US wants them silenced.
The Tour follows the show schedule of 2 powerful Toronto punk bands, Nikki’s Trick and Skull Device. This cause is especially significant to these two groups, as Skull Device lead guitarist Pat Hart is an AWOL Sergeant from the US Military, facing up to 30 years in Prison if the Canadian Government denies his appeal to remain in Canada. There is a major legal battle that is currently taking place in the Canadian courts that will decide whether the Canadian Government will allow the War Resistor Soldiers to Remain in Canada or not. In the event that they are returned to the United States, US war objectors face incarceration and possibly even the death penalty. Canada must not facilitate the persecution of American war objectors by returning them to the United States.
