About Me

I am a New York based singer-songwriter whose musical style has been influenced by classical melodies and the sounds of contemporary pop/rock.My passion for music started early, at the age of 12, when influenced by the Beatles and Elvis Presley. After hearing the passion and raw emotion of songs like ‘Jailhouse Rock’ and ‘I Saw Her Standing There’, I knew music was the way I wanted to express my own emotion. It is the way I best communicate with the world and people around me. By the age of 17, I joined a grunge rock band as a singer/guitar player. During those years, I had my first audience exposure and gained valuable experience in performing in such fables rock venues such as CBGB. I also developed my songwriting capabilities drawing inspiration from acts like Pearl Jam and Nirvana. In 2003, my style took a dramatic turn after hearing John Mayer’s song ‘Why Georgia.’ I loved the intimacy of an acoustic guitar, a voice and an audience. Music became my vehicle to express feelings of sentiment, desire and love. People have since admired the sincerity of my music and often compare my vocal tone to that of Chris Isaak. My song ‘Blame’ was recently chosen out of thousands of entries to be featured on the popular Internet podcast “Next Big Hit Music Mix.” Commenting on my sound, the show’s executive producer Michael Gilboe stated “You’ll enjoy John if you are into such artists as David Gray and John Mayer.” Fred Kevorkian, a mastering engineer whose credits include Dave Mathews and Iggy Pop, described my songs as “lush and memorable.” My music has also been played in many cafés and restaurants around New York City such as Baraonda, Café Reggio, and Le Bateau Ivre.In addition to music I always had a love for health and healing. I recently graduated from medical school and am currently a physician resident in the field of family practice. I believe that great music can have a therapeutic effect on body and soul. Whether it is a powerful orchestral piece from Beethoven or heartfelt “soul” music from the movie “Once”, music can have profound effects beyond even our own comprehension.I have finished my first album titled “Memories” and currently recording music for my second CD. I continue to share my music through live performance and radio podcast constantly gaining fans from all around the globe.
