Who am I? A 25 year old self taught organist/pianist who's also an aspiring drummer. I've been playing since the age of 15 and taught myself how to play (with the help of my very talented mother "Polly Taylor") . I've had the opportunity to grow up and be surrounded with some great vocalists/musicians/ minstrels/producers and so much more. To grow up and be around some of the greats , I had no other choice but to follow suit and take up my rightful place in the world of Detroit gospel music ..I've been blessed to be able to play on or share the stage with some notable musicians and singers..As of now, I can be heard playing the organ and some keyboard overdubbs on Lexi's new album, in stores everywhere entitled, 'What Heaven Hears'. You can also hear me on the National Hit play entitled' Issues, we all got em' , written by Laterras Whitfield. Actors in the play include, Dave Hollister, Angie Stone, Latoya London, Tonex and many other notable actors/actresses.
Where you can catch me playing? I currently serve as the Min. Of Music at Greater Mt. Zion every Sunday at 11: 30 am . I also play the organ at the 8 a.m Morning services @ The Citadel of Praise.
Who I'm currently playing for: Marc Ivory and Excelled Praise (album in stores) , GIWU, Lindsey & Jemika , Connection and many others.
My Influences: First and foremost , God! I learned straight from the creator of music..Secondly, I've learned so much from studying, watching and being around my Mother, Verdena 'Polly' Taylor. She's truly talented and humble.. Brandon Taylor (my brother who's quite the bassist) Daniel Taylor (my lil' bro who's bad on those drums) Tommie Walker, I learned a lot from you Big Tom. Johnathon Hogue, thanks for showing me the ins and outs of engineering and always hooking me up with whatever you have at your disposal. My Pastor, he's forced me to grow in so many areas of my life. Having the confidence in me to lplace the music staff in my hands. And of course, myself. I'm constantly pushing myself to go beyond the limits and create a sound that's never been heard.
