Soulamadou is a selfmade dj, entertainer, bass guitar player, rapper born in The Gambia, based in Hamburg/Germany. Known for his many Soul/Funk and Dancehall events in the city of Hamburg. Deejaying in and around Hamburg was always part of his agenda. As a Teenager, Soulamadou started deejaying in a Club called Disco City "at that time, one of the few Clubs in Hamburg where one could get the combination Funk and Reggae served from the turntables". The journey went through the legendarie Ina Roots Club to Soulful Kitchen, then Molotow/MeanieBar to Docks/Prinzenbar, and to many other first choice locations in and around the city of Hamburg. When it comes to Funk, his combinations behind the turntables is a many years of Vinyl collections from all over, and is rarely seen amongst dj..s. And then when it comes to Reggae, Soulamadou was always working with Hamburg top a top Soundsystems. Allmost all the Veteran Soundsystems living in Hamburg has worked at least once with Soulamadou. Took big part into promoting and bringing the Funk and Reggae music in a higher level in the city of Hamburg.Did work with international Artists Asher D, and Raggamuffin founder Daddy Freddy. In fact, Soulamadou was the first to bring the two Artists in a gig in Hamburg. At that period of time, many Local and Studio recordings has been made , including some rare Soundsystem videos and interviews.
Co-founder of the legendarie Hamburg montly Dancehall Club "nuff-vibez reggae", and founder of "Burning Spliff Soundsystem". Soulamadou is also the founder of "Local Voice Videos" based in The Gambia and Hamburg.
To Soulamadou, the bass makes the Groove, therefore after many years of DJ, Studio and Stage experience, he was then learning how to play the Bass Guitar and is today working with a whole lots of Artists, Beat makers, Players of Instruments and Sound-Doctors in defferent projects, specially design for live performance. One of the few to organise live sessions in Hamburg design to give young talented youths the chance to rap. In order to promote and represent Black Africa to the public, Soulamadou did encouraged many young African Artists to Sing and Rap in their own Mother language. Only then, can non-africans know at least the names of some of our beloved tribes or languages. He himself has set several times exemple and duet with many local Artists in Hamburg to promote some of the West African languages on stage.In January 2008, Soulamadou with the help of Martin Mc-Fly (Chantin Kings), together with Oliver and Hartmut (both Sam Ragga Band), finally founded the Local News Band.
A new sound experiance, taking reggae music and rap back to it..s original roots Africa. Almost all the songs of Local News Band has been written and directed by Soulamadou.Soulamadou makes his own beats since the time of Atari and writes own lyrics that goes with it. The lyrics are mostly in English, and the native West/African language "Fulani" and "Wollof", sometimes even into the French language. Soulamadou music is full of power, education meditation and science. Singing about unity, rapping about individual human rights amoungst Tribes and Nations, freedom of speech and respect to the nature. Talking about the great leaders of Africa and their philosophie and dreams for bringing Africa together.
