The Pamlico-Tar River Foundation was founded in 1981. It is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to protecting, preserving and promoting the environmental quality of the Tar-Pamlico River and its watershed. PTRF is a grassroots organization, supported by nearly 1,400 citizen members -- "River Givers."
For generations, the Tar-Pamlico River has supported life in the watershed, and its future health is directly tied to the future of this region. The simple fact is that, by nature, humans consume resources and produce pollution. PTRF strives to preserve our high quality of life by protecting the river's environmental resources:
• clean water • clean air
• fisheries • wildlife habitat
• wetlands • drinking water
• natural beauty • recreation
