Phorte, aka Linh Le-Huy, has been producing since 1994 spanning many different genres of electronic music. Prior to this, he had a keen interest in all forms of metal (playing guitar in various bands) as well as early rap from the 80’s.Not until 1997 did he start taking drum & bass seriously, being mainly interested in the harder style of the genre with the likes of Edrush & Optical, Absolute Zero, Dom & Roland, Trace, and later on, Bad Company. With his completed works, he was asked to perform live PA/DJ sets around his home town of Adelaide, Australia, between 1998 till mid 2001, and also appeared on local radio shows and magazines. At this same point, his studio changed and with it came a new love for a different sound. He started to dwell in the emotions of uplifting trance from Above & Beyond and Armin Van Buuren, the groove and soul of house from the Naked Music label and Miguel Migs, and the conjured images of movie scores by Joe Hisaishi, Hans Zimmer and Craig Armstrong. Drawing from these influences, he strived to create a melodic and atmospheric style of drum & bass in conjunction with fellow Australian producer, Suni, as well as adventures into trance, house and downtempo. In 2008, Phorte continues to DJ at smaller events but on the production side, has taken a step back from the near-stagnant state of atmospheric drum & bass and dwelling again into the harder style. Coupled with side projects in house, R&B as well as downtempo, Phorte will continue to bring a melodic side to all of his productions and hope to push his sound further.
