Another debut twelve from another freshly minted dubstep imprint - Art Recordings. The man behind the controls here is London's Orien, here operating with strange, welcome fusion of traditional bass/drop structures and plastic melodies that evoke a strange mix of Eastern, military and arcade game soundtracks that aren't half expected but which tag themselves stubbornly to your mind after a quick listen. B-side track "A Distant Place" is the stronger of the two - a quietly uplifting melodic vibe guiding the track like a thick ray of sunshine over the horizon, with another unexpected use of disjointed sounds making up the body of the track. Good stuff - check!

Devious steps up on Art to drop a three tracker full of dubstep promise. Rumbling low end is the feature of ‘Depth’, a track so murky you might need windscreen wipers before you can play it. ‘Acid’ warps out the bassline with some seriously sweeping sub-low and rhythmic shuffles. Finally ‘Generator’ gets crazy with the LFO and slaps you round the face with a massive snare and some trembling bass. Heavier than trying to carry a sack full of bricks after a dead arm contest.
