The Congosound

The Congosound is the name of the electronic band which the artist Carles Congost shares with the musician Vicent Fibla and Jessie Park, a peculiar muse to the Barcelona club scene who was closely involved in the artist..s early video works.The Congosound were active in Barcelona’s electronic renaissance after the 1992 Olympics. At a time when a great many labels and festivals were flourishing in the wake of the SONAR phenomenon, The Congosound were mixing bands like Fangoria, Astrud or Manta Ray and contributing songs to a number of select electronic compilations. After publishing a 12” ‘Jessie's Theme’ (1998) and CD album ‘Jackson’ (2002), the group was invited to play at SONAR ’02, where they displayed their very personal vision of live performance based on powerful visual stimulation and pre-recorded sound.In 2007 came out "Say She's Your Number One/ Jessie's Best" (2007), taking part of the Carles Congost..s monographic book called "Say I'm Your Number One", which included some of their old themes, unreleased versions, a new track (that named the whole book), and two remixes by Luomo and Superpitcher.In that time, The Congosound turned into a robot, a technological stage, which, since then, allows the band keep on performing live music without moving from their studio. "The Congosound's Live Prototype" was introduced to the audience, for the first time, on May 2007 at Musac (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León). A thresome of replicants manipulated the machine in public, under some specific instructions, in order to generate the illusion of a The Congosound's Live Concert. On February 2008, the "Superpitcher vs. The Congosound/ Say I..m Your Number One" 12" was released on the German label Kompakt.-------------------------------------------------The Congosound es la formación electrónica que el artista Carles Congost comparte con el músico Vicent Fibla junto a Jessie Park, particular musa de la escena de club barcelonesa, estrechamente ligada a las primeras producciones videográficas del artista.The Congosound participó de la efervescencia electrónica vivida en la Barcelona post-olímpica con gran profusión de sellos y festivales girando entorno al fenómeno SONAR, llegando a remezclar a bandas como Fangoria, Manta Ray o Astrud, e incluyendo su música en recopilatorios destinados a la pista de baile. Tras la publicación del 12 pulgadas en vinilo ‘Jessie's Theme’ (1998) y del álbum en cd ‘Jackson’ (2002) el grupo es invitado a participar en SONAR..02, dejando clara su particular concepción de directo a base de impactantes estímulos visuales y música pregrabada.En 2007 aparece el cd “Say She's Your Number One/ Jessie's Best” , como complemento al libro monográfico sobre la obra de Carles Congost “Say I'm Your Number One” (Actar/ Musac), recuperando algunos de los mejores temas del grupo, y conteniendo además versiones inéditas, un nuevo track (el que dió título a la publicación) y las personales revisiones que de éste tema realizaron Luomo y Superpitcher.La presentación tuvo lugar en mayo del 2007 en Musac (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León), donde se puso en marcha por primera vez "The Congosound's Live Prototype", un escenario robot que, en base a un happening franquicia llevado a cabo por un trio de replicantes, genera la ilusión de directo sin que ninguno de los miembros originales tenga que moverse del estudio.En febrero del 2008 sale al mercado el vinilo 12" "Superpitcher vs. The Congosound/ Say I..m Your Number One" en el prestigioso sello alemán Kompakt.
