The Live Earth tree is a new project by MSN UK running in conjunction with the Live Earth concerts to promote green, environmentally friendly activities.
From the beginning of July You will be invited to draw a leaf on your screen using the special tools provided and to make a pledge to do something green. Your leaf will then be placed on the tree with the other members of the public and the tree will grow leaf by leaf as more people make pledges.
You will be able to navigate around the tree and the tree can then be searched and filtered to show the pledges made by name, age country and type of pledge. The tree will become a graphical representation of the charitable activities of a global network and a way of visualising societies efforts to protect the environement.
The tree will be availible to make pledges from the beginning of July at www.liveearthtree.com (To learn more about the project visit http://liveearthtree.spaces.live.com where you can also find out how to make your pledge!)
Dont forget to leave your comments and check back later for updates!
The above video is an early trial of the tree growing. Lines and squares are used to represent the branches and leaves. You can get a good impression of how the tree will grow itself from the database of everyones pledges once the tree goes live next month.
