Boys of the Hills

Desde 1997, los integrantes de dicha agrupación, llevan tocando y promoviendo su música por los diferentes entornos dentro del círculo de la música Tradicional Irlandesa, tanto en España como en Irlanda esencialmente. Algunos de los miembros actuales que integran Boys of the Hills, constituyeron otras formaciones como La Guadaña (primera denominación del grupo, 1997- 2002), Carbonellinghan’s, Kardagh entre otros… Diez años en total tocando y viajando juntos por pequeños pueblos, teatros, festivales, fiestas privadas, obras benéficas… contribuyendo en todo momento con su interpretación y composición a la cultura y el Folk irlandés. Boys of the Hills es el resultado de años de trabajo y empeño de los miembros fundadores: Jesús Carbonell, su hermano Álvaro Carbonell y Alejandro Torcida. En el año 2006 se han ido integrando otros miembros amigos como, Carlos Ramos a la percusión y Ramón O’Caña al Violín. El grupo cuenta con varias maquetas elaboradas por “Alex 21”, (estudio familiar de A. Torcida). El reconocimiento de esta banda es creciente: el mayor de sus logros ha sido tocar juntamente con The Chieftains, en el patio central de Conde Duque (Madrid) en julio del pasado 2006. Una de las características de esta banda de tres miembros originalmente, es precisamente la riqueza de instrumentos. Así diremos que durante algún concierto no es raro ver en escena alternar hasta doce instrumentos,… sin duda desconcertante, ¿verdad? --IN ENGLISH: ---------The members of this band have been playing and promoting their music in different environments of the traditional Irish music circuit, both in Spain and in Ireland, since 1997. Some of the current members of Boys of the Hills were previously part of other groups, such as La Guadaña (first name of the band, 1997 - 2002), Carbonellinghan´s and Kardagh amongst others.......ten years in total playing and travelling together through small villages, theatres, festivals, private parties and charity events......contributing all this time their interpretation and composition to Irish folk culture. Boys of the Hills is the result of years of work and dedication from its founding members: Jesús Carbonell, his brother Álvaro Carbonell and Alejandro Torcida. New members such as Carlos Ramos (percussion) and Ramón O´Caña (violin) have joined the group during 2006. The band has produced a number of demo CDs in ´Alex 21´ (the home based studio of Alex Torcida). Recognition for the group is growing: the greatest achievement to date has been to play together with The Chieftains in the Conde Duque cultural center (Madrid) on 17th July 2006. One of the major characteristics of the band, originally of three members, is precisely the variety of instruments that they play. It is not unusual to see them playing up to twelve different instruments during the same concert. Strange, no?
